One dominant character type in British film is the upper class. Even as British films become more gritty with characters from every class the posh characters are still one of the most popular and are often used to contrast the cockney slang.

Most British films include stereotypical British weather. This is usually nice sunny weather if the film is based on posh people and if the film is in more of a poor area of England then the weather is often grey and rainy. It also reflects the moods of the characters or foreshadows how they are going to feel in a short period of time.

There are certain themes commonly found in british films. They usually explore very real issues like prejudice and discrimination within society, coming of age, and life in difficult and poor parts of the country. British films take a more realistic approach to storytelling. It is quite rare to find a British fantasy or sci-fi film. British comedies have very dry humour about ordinary people, places, events.

Rich people tend to listen to opera and classical music and poor people tend to listen to rap and R&B.
