There are many deceptions in social media, such as social dating software. Many photos on social software are not real. These people use fake identities to contact you, gain your trust, and then even cheat you for money or feelings. The growing phenomenon of online dating deception, colloquially referred to as “catfishing,” is described as the intentional misrepresentation of various aspects of one’s self in pursuing an exclusively online relationship (Campbell, in press),online dating deception also poses significant mental health risks and is considered a negative and traumatic experience for vulnerable populations who use online dating (Lauckner et al., 2019). Social software brings people more risks of being deceived, and its disadvantages are absolutely greater than its advantages

Social media wastes a lot of people's time. Benetoli (2019) pointed out that social media may be very time-consuming, because people need to spend time browsing, and there are usually various discussions on each topic. In Benetoli's experiment, participants said that due to the existence of a large amount of information, they would forget their original purpose during the search process, which resulted in unnecessary waste of time. Therefore, social media will distract people and waste people a lot of time, even though we can quickly search for our target information.

This is manifested in the inability to concentrate in normal daily life, and will involuntarily pick up the mobile phone and use social media while working and studying. In the experiments of Drahošová, M. and Balco, P., nearly 70% of people believe that Internet addiction is the most serious problem caused by social media. In order to deal with this problem, we need to guide the use of social media.

Safarnejad (2020) claimed that while social media disseminates information quickly, it also transmits some misinformation. For example, in 2016, the misinformation of Zika was passed on Twitter. The rapid transmission of wrong information has led to a wrong understanding of epidemics. This situation is very dangerous when encountering a deadly virus. Therefore, people need to strictly control the authenticity of key information on social media.

Social software makes communication in life easier.Various chat software have been invented, such as WeChat, WhatsAPP and Facebook. Through these software, you can contact the person you want to contact anytime and anywhere, and it only takes a few seconds to send a message, and you can also share life with your friends through photos. On the other hand, various companies have also begun to use social software to make their work more convenient. It does not require all employees to have face-to-face meetings. You only need to use software such as zoom and teams to conduct video meetings.Even when the coronavirus is no longer a top concern, 83% of office workers say they want to work from home at least one day per week, according to a June survey from PwC. Social software not only brings convenience to people’s lives, but also makes company management easier.

Social media has become an indispensable part of people’s lives. Through investigation and research, we believe that the advantages of social media outweigh the disadvantages. On the one hand, social media does have some problems, such as wasting some unnecessary time on it. , The message is untrue or depends on the mobile phone. These problems will not cause too serious impact. But it is undeniable that if there is no social media in our lives, the times will seem to be back for decades, and it is no longer so convenient, indicating that social media has indeed brought a lot of benefits. In general, the advantages of social media outweigh the disadvantages.

Not only can governments use social media to interact with citizens, but terrorist organizations can also do the same. For example, social media was implicated in the far-right terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand in March 2019. The action was broadcast live on Facebook for 17 minutes, and the final video was deleted an hour later. But in the following 24 hours, the video was re-uploaded 2 million times on major social media. Therefore, the government must strictly monitor the content posted on social media, otherwise this new media will become a way for terrorists to spread fear.
