Let's say their vision board included: "learning English enough so I can talk to people on my next family trip to Greece" they also create a checklist of things they want to accomplish this year. Then during our lessons I encourage them to continue working on their goals, I give one hour a week to work on it while doing online research and I tell them to continue the learning by themselves before their next trip so they can tick this goal off their checklist 

As a matter of fact, learning can also occur outside school hours. Students can learn by trying out a new sport or joining a club, and this can result in the discovery of a new skill or talent that will lead to further personal development and greater self-esteem. Such activities fall under co-curricular or extra-curricular programmes. They are not a part of the regular academic curriculum but they support the academic missions of schools.

In my opinion, the “Maker” movement gives our students an amazing opportunity to become more creative beyond the subject areas we teach and the grade level, without limiting their interest.
“Maker” education is a great tool for hands-on activities, learning by doing and playing (which is active learning). It fits the 21^st century skills of the 4 c’s, communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. Moreover, this tool supports the development of a mindset that values experimentation, grows and collaboration. The students will experience design thinking, inspiration of creating something new, problem-solving in the project and sharing it with others. They will also enjoy using and expressing their own talents. Students will create a project, based on their own interest by using real-world tools (low-cost materials, 3D printer, robotics, microprocessors, wearable computing, e-textiles …). Such as: learning science by creating their own experiments, creating robots by using recycled material, making a motorized boat when learning about technology and etc…
After completing the project they will be able to share their ideas and teach it to other people, by either publishing it online or physically presenting it to others (in most cases they will also get a feedback on it). This will encourage them to be more organized and improve their self-confidence. These activities motivate learning incredibly; students will love learning and enjoy being a part of the lesson. This way we will help our students to think outside the box and enable innovations in the class. 

I chose this “Beyond” because it reminded me the film- "Pay it forward".

This film talks about teacher that gives the class an assignment to devise and put into action a plan that will change the world for the better. The head player is a young kid (Trevor) who plans charitable program based on the networking of good deeds. He calls his plan "pay it forward", which means the recipient of a favor does a favor for three others rather than paying the favor back. However, it needs to be a major favor that the recipient cannot complete themselves. When I was young I always thought to myself that if I will a teacher I definitely going to do this. So it fits the Beyond the Bell this dynamic learning can make the students work after school with things that can make the world much better plays.
