we first decided the most important thing was to set out the learning intentions of what the students would be expected to know by the end of the lesson which was distinguish between an insulator and a conductor and gave a designed a thermal flask
the first task was in groups to research materials suitable for insulating and conducting 
then the next task was to build a thermal flask
then to be able to fill the flask with water
