His book made peoples’ curiosities grow upon them, and eventually they became more interested. 

Once people were interested in his book, it changed their lifestyles, and they looked up to him.

It would be very interesting if someone were to today, and it would be pretty different. The areas he traveled would probably be a little more difficult to get to.

Marco had many ups and downs when he traveled, but when Denis and Francis followed his footsteps, it wasn't as bad for them as it was for Marco. Persia, Afghanistan, and Balkh had little to no problems for Denis&Francis and Marco Polo. 
China:Kashgar/Taklamakan desert was fine for Denis and Francis, but for Marco Polo it was something he would never forget, for he heard "spirits" speaking to him. In Mongolia, the people were very generous and weren't wasteful whatsoever. It was a good milestone for both Marco Polo and Denis/Francis.
