The word return makes me think of how, often times, things change after someone has left for a period of time. Once he/she returns, he/she realizes the differences. This reminds me of the Hudson River School painters, who painted hyperrealistic American sceneries to capture the natural beauty for an eternity.

Home Again is a painting that depicts the return of a soldier to his home after being discharged in battle. The expressions of surprise and the sense of warmth produced by the color scheme that composes the piece coveys a sense of conviviality to the audience. The history and context of the piece, however, spins the story of return in an unconventional manner.
