Least restrictive environment is a foundational element in building an appropriate IEP that can improve outcomes for a child-in school and in life.

There are benefits of being placed in a general education classroom for a person with special needs. There is a preference to have the child put in a class alongside their peers. Aids and services in the classroom can provide support for the child's education. These things are essential for many children to progress and learn. The child's progress is measured, receives feedback more frequently. Being put in a general education classroom could spark engaged learning, interaction, and development. LRE is a good practice for the inclusion of students with disabilities in school and daily activities.
