Her set of character traits plays a very big role throughout the story since her actions have major effects on the rest of the main characters since she is also a key suspect. This is specifically displayed on page 132 when Bronwyn attempts to calm her sister down since she was angry that the their information got leaked to the entire school. It states, "I bet I could hack that stupid thing and figure out who's behind it. Maeve, no! My voice is so loud. I lower it and switch to Spanish. No lo hagas... No queremos... I force myself to stop talking as Kate and Yumiko keep staring at me." In this situation you would think that Bronwyn would be the one who is out of control through her adrenaline rush of rage from being exposed like this, but no. In the book on page 11 it states, "She's a princess and you're a jock, he says. He thrusts his chin toward Bronwyn, then at Nate. And you're a brain. And you're a criminal. You're all walking teen-movie stereotypes." This was when Simon was explaining to them in the beginning of the book on how they seem to be which was basically an introduction to the readers. Also on page 92 Bronwyn states, "I always thought Cooper's talent was God-given and that Addy was too Jake-obsessed to even look at another guy, but they probably never imagined me as a cheater, either." This was after Bronwyn had heard about the About This post when she discovered the secrets all of four of them which the detective gave to her when she made the accusation that they are all suspects which then led on to start the investigation for the rest of the book. This just shows how completely different the four main characters are compared to their original stereotypes when you look further into how they act and their secrets. On page 290 Bronwyn states, "The police came with dogs and everything, looking for drugs. They didn't find any. But nobody found Simon's things or a computer then." The reason why is because On page 261, Addy states, "You find out who your real friends are when stuff like this happens. Turns out I didn't have any, but I'm glad Cooper does." This shows how the author uses this specific word choice to get the tone across the reader easily when in this scene Addy was talking to Janea about how everything went down when she invited her over. Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper have continuously had to go through the process of reflection because of their convictions. On page 245 Addy had invited Janea over to her house and their conversation consisted of, "You must miss how things were before. Yes and no, I miss how easy school used to be. But I guess nobody I hung out with ever really cared about me, right? Or things would have been different." This wasn't the only major reflection that one of the main characters faced, as they all went through life changes due to this situation that they were all stuck into, you could see the amount of character development that went on for each of them as all of these different problems came up for mostly the entire book. Now, the four other students that were there when he died are all suspects when they are all innocent. This leads on to the rest of the book of them trying to stay out of trouble/getting arrested for the crime that they didn't do. On page 83 it states, "There were only six people in the room, one of whom is dead. Your teacher left for a long period of time. The four of you who remained with Simon all had reasons for wanting to keep him quiet." On page 330, Addy states, "I hear branches crashing behind me, farther away than I would have thought but heading straight to me. I get to my feet, wincing, and weigh my options. One thing's sure after everything I heard in the living room--Jake's not leaving these woods till he finds me." With the help of this direct point of view from her it really helps the reader get a better understanding of what is going on and how intense this scene truly was for her.
