         <description><![CDATA[<div>He was born Near Connellsville, Fayette County in January 8, 1839. He went to school at the Laurel Hill Academy. Most of his life was working in the mines. He was elected as President of the state constitutional convention. His career soon ended so he went back to mining. He was a wealthy man who invested in his own businesses which failed due to the panic of 1837 and the panic of 1857. He Served as the financial adviser of Ohio during the war. He also owned big companies such as iron and coal mining, Life insurance, and railroads. After him and his two brothers left they moved to Sacramento to open a store. He was elected as city council and later State legislator as a Republican.          <description><![CDATA[<div>born April 1, 1834, Bennigton. He teamed up with Gould and Drew to defend their railroad, Erie from Cornelius Vanderbilt. Gould secretly sold much of his gold before prices fell. Fisk lost a considerable part of his investment.
