В 1905-14 при помощи архитектора-австрийца Захар Федорович построил в селе Новокубанском (ныне – г. Новокубанск Краснодарского края) большой кирпичный особняк в два высоких этажа с великолепным парком и большим садом.
Власти Краснодарского края выполнили просьбу писателя Александра Солженицына — передали дом его деда Захара Щербака в Новокубанске местному Свято-Покровскому храму.
