Week 1
Starting this assessment I was worried as I am not passionate about much. On top of this I had not done anything like this before. Though I am sure once I start research, find an idea, and start to think about the video I will start finding it easier. I want to do a comedic video as I believe I can make a better comedic promotional video when compared to other genres.
Week 2
This week was mainly focused on finding all 80 ideas and finalising them into 1 idea. I had trouble finding all 80 at first, I found tangents which I could go on one topic for 4 or 5 ideas then move on to the next, but getting to each topic was troubling. I finalised my idea to base it around that comedic theme of playing on other brands, I decided water brands since to me that seemed the easiest to do.
Week 3
This week was mainly based around making the website, writing about the promoted idea/item and putting the padlet/journal up on the website. Other than this I worked on finding some sources to help inspire my video ideas and find what kind of comedy I want to utilise in my video.
Week 4
This week we learnt how to properly create a mind map, as well as other creative ventures and how they help in this project. This includes AIDA and the 6 thinking hats. Apart from these I created and finished my annotated bibliography which helped further my knowledge in all I have done the past few weeks.
Week 5
This week we learnt about typography and colour palettes, why they are important in commercials and how we can utilise them to grab audiences attentions and and use them to make them feel/react a certain way. This expanded my knowledge greatly on why some commercials and branding works and why others do not. It also helped me finalise my video and item of choice to promote, giving a final idea on what it will look like. This week is also the final week to do any touch-ups and finish writing in the website about my promotional item.

Getting deeper into it, it would be the right decision since I am focusing on humor my type of humor that I am going to be using fits more with my age demographic. On top of that using people my age for this video will help them relate and enjoy the promotion as well (Daniel Thompson J; Weldon J, 2022, pg. 11-20).

A water brand that plays on the many water brands there are. Since there are so many it could easily be a play on the words from one of the brands, as well as playing on how other water brands claim absurd properties on their water. Such as nutritional properties, medicinal promises and sometimes even taste. After some research there is a water brand called 'blk', with the water being black claiming it is a "massive antioxidant". Playing on the brand name and color I can use that to have "Brwn", water that is brown and claiming many benefits such as being an antioxidant, and healing wounds.

For the video I must keep in consideration to demonstrate it's:
1. Health benefits
2. Cost
3. Flavour
4. Comedic nature

Start with something "loud", to catch the audiences attention in the first 5 seconds. Then show someone hurt, possibly from tripping or playing a sport. After have them drink the water, clearly showing the brand look and name, with their wound/s healing. Use editing post-production to show this. Then have them get back to what they are doing with a happy smile. List the water's benefits with a narrator while showing people doing activities with the water as the main focus. Have the activities be outrageous to grab the audiences attention and add humour to the video. End with the cost of a bottle and a pack of 6, with the narrator finishing off with the terms and conditions at a very fast pace, mixed in with over-the-top terms to add more to the humour element.

Video starts off with a person going for a jog, trips and falls, scraps/cuts their knee. Stand up with their drink bottle with the words and logo "Brwn". They drink it, cutting back to their knee which is now healed. As they job away joyfully the narrator starts talking about the drink. Naming the benefits, with the background switching between multiple activities like wrestling/mma, over-the-top workouts, family arguing and to friends talking to each other, smiling and having fun. All with a "Brwn" bottle as the main focus in each shot and in each of the friends hands. When the narrator is reading out the cost and terms, a water bottle and a 6 pack will be in the background on a lazy Suzan spinning slowly.

Although this is multiple ads in one, they all showcase similar humour to one another but based off of different target audiences. Most of them are targeted towards young adults and above since they are ones who can afford glasses. They are also are made to help younger audiences enjoy them though to possibly help them tell their parents they want their glasses. This humour is similar to what I want to use in my video, comedic timing mixed with unnatural occurrences make all of these good and funny ads.

Changing it from one scene in a bar with big men, big beards and rock 'n' roll t-shirts to a man quietly watching a waterfall is one good example. Another being a man asking if Oliver is in a tiny house.

Process - I will need to plan for people to be actors like the jogger, family, mma/boxing, and the group of friends, as well as a narrator/promoter. I will also need to plan for the group/s to get together to show the friends, fight and family as well. I need to find a well-lit area to film all the shots. I will then need to find a way to show the water in focus with everything going on in the background, using the 1/3 rule. I finally also need to make a few bottles with the logo of my 'company' and make the slightly brown water inside, with benefits listed on the side of the bottle.

Facts - I will need to find out how closely I can resemble a companies property before it become infringement, as I do not want to get in trouble for stealing another's original work.

Feelings - I want my audience to feel happy and confused after this commercial, as it is a comedic commercial the happiness is connected to that. The confusion on the other hand I want my audience to want to learn more about it, and therefore getting more exposure to my item.

Creativity - I want it to be mostly simple, and mundane but the nature of which it is portrayed to be extraordinary i.e. the narrator happily promoting the drink in front of the fighters. With the water I want it to look slightly disturbing to get it into people head, with mostly brown colours on the outside and mainly a primary colour for the logo to make it stand out. For people costumes, again I will be making them mostly dull to make the other light colours of the scenery stand out.

Benefits - The benefits of buying my water would include various overexaggerated benefits of other water brands. Such as it being a great anti-oxidant, it can heal small wounds physically and mentally, tastes great, comes from a fantasy place, etc. These will all be demonstrated/shown on the bottle and logo itself.

Cautions - Since this video is a play-on different brands that say "we have the best..." my video will have plenty of faults, most of them being that most of the "benefits" are unrealistic and will not make sense. Though this is also to add to the comedic value of the commercial.

Attention - I am going to catch the audiences attention by using contrasting colours in my background when comparing it to my drink. Most of my commercial is going to be bright, light colours for the background and my bottle is going to have a darker look to it focusing their attention on the bottle. I will also have happy-sounding narration with extraordinary dialogue to keep the audience intrigued.

Interest - Similar to capturing their attention I will keep a similar experience throughout with it delving into the more surreal to keep the audience guessing what is going to happen next.

Desire - Again, the story of the commercial is all over the place, jumbled nearly getting the audience to try and piece it all together themselves and enjoying the process of that.

Action - This will leave them at the end wanting to try the water to see if its unreal benefits actually work or even to just research it. Making them research or keeping the advert in their mind will get them talking about it and spreading information about it further getting more people to purchase the water.

For the fonts/typography I want to use in my video I want to use a simple, but smooth font that is easy to read. This is simply because the wrapping on the bottle with the logo and ingredients on it will be black and having a smoother font is easier to read against a black background.
The font above I have chosen has these features, with it being a smooth and bold font. Since the writing will be fairly small as it needs to fit on a bottle, it cannot be too thick and this font has a good thickness that is still easy to read even when small. Though I will make the letters stand slightly further away from eachother to make each letter stand out.
Another reason for this font is that it looks similar to the "Blk" logo which is what I am trying to imitate, though not exactly the same it looks quite similar.

Colour Palette

My colour palette will mostly contain monochromatic colours, with the labelling around the bottle being black and the writing to be a white/silver-y colour. This is to show it's neutral undertones of being both good but also the unrealistic-ness of the bottle's benefits/promotion being existentially creepy (can heal any injury, creepy undertones within commercial, etc.)

The water itself will be brown, this is because the colour brown is generally connected with nature and it ingredients mostly come from nature. Brown also shows feelings of warmth and security, with its benefits this would most fit what the water provides. This is also ironic however, since I plan to make the water look dirty, giving a contrast and adding more to the comedic side of the video.
