Growing up in the Pacific North West I have always been apart of the pro dominant racial group. I have never been the only person within a class of my race and the majority of my teachers have been white throughout my education. I have a lot of privilege surrounding my race, being I have never been racially discriminated against or targeted, As well as always having representation being in media, classroom settings, etc. Acknowledging this, As a white person It is my responsibility to educate myself and actively call out and speak against racism.

I have a very distanced relationship with my family. Within my life family has never been viewed as a priority, rather the importance has been on other external relationships with friends. My family is very busy and while we will occasional do family dinners or watch a show together, we individually often rather do our own things. In terms of non immediate family we speak occasionally, but rarely visit or call. We as a whole engage with mainstream holidays, however we are not connected to any of our ethnic backgrounds.

As a woman I am a strong advocate for woman's rights and for every woman to have control around there own bodies. I believe feminism fundamentally needs to take an inter sectional approach, as race, class, etc all play into privilege. I also am cis-gendered, because of this I carry a certain level of advantage. I don't have to worry about being able to afford certain surgeries or medication, or carry the fear of being denied adequate medical care. I also will never experience discrimination on the basis of a trans identity.

I was raised as an atheist my entire life. My grandma has a heavy Mormon background before ultimately leaving the church in recent years. The LDS influence in my mothers life led to her having a disdain for religion. My father on the other hand had christian believing family, though they were extremely relaxed around religion and never attended church. When they had us it was mutually accepted that religion of any sort would not be involved in our lives. To this day I have attended a few church events but never was interested in being apart of any organized religon.

I am apart of generation Z. Being apart of this generation I'm getting to experience a lot of major changes within the country. Socially so much progress is being made and people are like never before taking an active role in fighting current issues such as racial injustice, climate change, gender inequality, etc. Although these last few years for me and those around my age have been chaotic to say the least. Going through an election, experiencing major fires, and the entirety of the Covid. I look forward to the rest of my high school years, hoping that the future will bring forth more normalcy

I grew up In Vancouver Washington, later moving across the bridge to Portland. Growing up it was always cloudy and rainy which I used to hate, but with time I slowly started to find rainy days inside to be my comfort. Some of my best friends all live in Vancouver so around once to twice a month I routinely stay with friends there. I love the city and how much there is to do in Portland in comparison, however the little spots surrounding Vancouver and the open fields always have my heart.
