The benefits of writing in math such as, student write about what they are doing and learning, writing to solve math problems, writing to explain ideas and writing to describe a learning process. Finally she provides six strategies to incorporate writing into a mathematics curriculum. The strategies include: free writes; biography and autobiography; learning logs, blogs, and journals; summaries; word problems; and formal writing. </div>]]></description>

Incorporating math into writing was a springboard for growth as she was able to guide students to write stories in a mathematical writing genre. She began this experience with using math talk, and a workshop model, she also incorporated math journals. All strategies for her and her students that may have been "Hard at first but fun in the end", like ice skating. </div>]]></description>
