""Do you hear that?" he asked. And then Max heard it, too, a faint buzzing sound. But it wasn't coming from inside the forest. It was coming from above."(pg. 56-57). This quote builds a lot of suspense leading up to the bombing, and I think that's really important in a book like this.

"One by one, they embraced the farmer. "Jablonski," one said. "You are our angel."(pg. 32). This is a very heart warming part of the book because this farmer saved their lives by hiding them from the Nazis.

""No!" Max screamed. Crack! Max was too late, the bullet had already hit the young soldier in the chest."(pg. 72) This was a very sad part of the book because the young soldier dies because of a bullet to the chest.

"The old farmer pointed to the barn behind the wheat field. "They've already searched my barn," he said. "Move quickly. Keep your heads down."(pg. 26). This shows a lot of bravery and heroism because he let them hide in the barn and if they were found then the kids and the old man would have been put to death, but that was a risk this old man was willing to take.

""We will all be waiting for your ship," Saul wrote in his last letter. "Your entire family is here for you. We will help you start your new life." New life. New life."(pg. 87). This is another example of a heartwarming quote because his entire family will be there, waiting for his to help him start his new life and that's a very very kind thing to do.
