         <title>Activity 1: Around the World – Selecting and Researching a World Culture Topic</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This activity involves introducing a class to the concept of world cultures by reading some texts as a whole group. Afterwards, form students into multiple groups and rotate them between different materials focusing on various world cultures. After the groups have been exposed to a multitude of world cultures through the materials, have the groups sign up to select a specific world culture as their topic. Have the groups form 5-6 research questions to include on their graphic organizer to aid their information search, while also assigning them a few research questions as examples. The materials will be available to students after both whole and small group readings.<br><br><strong>Learning Objective 1:</strong><br>Students will verbally identify 1 World Culture as their research topic after reading through multiple sources.<br><strong>Learning Objective 2:</strong><br>Using a graphic organizer, Students will identify five to six research questions about their world culture topic, after participating in both small and large group activities.<br><strong>Learning Objective 3:<br></strong>Students will reflect on what the word ‘culture’ means, by using the graphic organizer, after participating in small and large group activities.<br><br><em>All of the books in this set could support this activity!</em></div>]]></description>
