Anti-modern objects - Kejin Huang

I chose a cropped, fitted women's jacket that I had bought from a vintage shop before. It's a deep shade of red with a hint of purple, giving it a classic, retro look. Unlike modern fast fashion, its design and color choices show a sense of era and a uniqueness rarely seen in today's market. Its material also has an anti-modern feel. It's not made to be lightweight or disposable, and the waist is tightened with a drawstring that's hidden inside. This allows you to adjust the fit. It makes us think about how clothes can be loved and passed down to the next generation instead of just thrown away. Unlike the ever-changing trends that dominate today's market, this jacket, though vintage, has a special quality that makes it feel unique and different whenever you wear it.

Anti-Modernism and Fashion

My personal perspective is that anti-modernism and fashion, though seemingly opposed, often see fashion absorbing anti-modern traits, making “old, slow, and enduring” things trendy again. For instance, retro style essentially stems from anti-modernism, yet it has simultaneously become a fashionable trend. I personally adore this retro trend, so I've bought many vintage pocket squares and ties to occasionally accessorize my outfits.
