1 When I read the first three paragraphs I imagine chaos and animals running around, I can't imagine girls doing this because they really are animal like. "overthrowing dresser drawers, pawing through neat piles..." 

4 When describing the parents the tone is more civilized and like family. Their parents want the best for them so they are sending them away. The tone suggests that being a werewolf is dangerous and scary and the parents don't want that for their kids. "threatened by frost and pitchforks."

When I imagine the first couple paragraphs, I see a beautiful house that is peaceful and quiet, and then a very uncontrolled group of kids barrels in and destroys everything and anything they can get their hands on. I imagine this because the author described the kids behavior as "overturning dresser drawers, pawing through neat piles," etc. To me, this created a scene of destruction and mess that would take a very long time to clean up and train out of the kids.
4. When the parents and thought of being a werewolf is described, there is a strong tone of dislike and othering. For example, the author illustrates what the parents went through a while back when they "lived an outsider's existence," and were "threatened by frost and pitchforks." They behaved like wolves and even looked like them. I could imagine them running around and tearing up the place, making it look very messy. The nuns are shocked to the situation that is happening around them because this would be described as not normal behavior. They are acting destructive and not being like proper children.
