I love being a positive adult in a child's life! Taking the time to celebrate successes and support my mentee through challenges helps me appreciate the moment and grow as a person too!

I enjoy connecting with children. During our conversations, I learn what matters most to each child. It is so much fun to take time and really listen to children instead of worrying about teaching content.

I enjoy being a mentor because it brings back why we are all here - to support children. Seeing a different side of a students personality from what they may show academically is enjoyable and the relationships that are built, make coming to school for both adults and children pleasant.

Melanie I love being a mentor because you can impact a child in a different way on a one-on-one level. I find that the mentee feels special, but in return they send that love back when they see you in the hall with a big enthusiastic smile and hug.

Being a mentor is something I have really cherished over the years. Building relationships with students and allowing them a safe space to be themselves, is so rewarding. I look forward to time with my mentee. With our busy schedules, it is nice to have time to just be.

I love being a mentor because it’s an opportunity to really get to know a student. It’s a time we both look forward to because we can be ourselves and have fun. We play games and share stories. I know this time means a lot to my mentee so that makes it all worth it!

I enjoy being a mentor because it is so much fun learning about each student and forming relationships! It is also nice to be able to share personal experiences with the students and have them feel comfortable speaking Spanish with me.

Luis is a great soccer player and I’ve been having to practice my goalie skills to impress him a bit. 😂

I enjoy getting to know a student in a very personal way. I don't necessarily have an agenda or something specific to help them with, instead I can just enjoy their company. I have had mentees really blossom without doing anything- just giving them my time and attention. Anita

I have enjoyed being a mentor. I have had the opportunity to spend time and get to know students life outside of school. I love hearing the students say thank you for spending time with me. It makes me happy to let kids know that they have someone else that will listen and spend time with them.
