A girl named Eliza lived with her father. He was called Tom and he was a fisherman. They were happy together. They looked after one another. When Tom went fishing, Eliza wished to go with him. She was shy and she played on her own. She wasn’t allowed to go on the boat with her dad, but he always asked her what she would like him to catch. Every day she said the same thing: a mermaid! 
One evening Eliza was waiting for her father’s boat when she saw a girl playing on the beach. They smiled at each other. For some reason, Eliza was not frightened of her. She wanted to go and see her. Eliza didn’t go to the girl straight away, but when she saw that she was there the next morning, she went up to her. 
The next day, the same girl was there again. She gave Eliza a shell. It was pink and gold. Eliza could hear the sea when she put the shell to her ear. Eliza and Freya played together through the whole day. Eliza felt that she had known Freya for her whole life.  
Express :Imagine yourself to be the author, you are going to improvise the story by adding a problem, solution and conclusion.
