Discussion can be good practice for writing. This has been a theory for as long as I’m in DOE. How do we give students space to reflect on the role of discussion in writing and how do we give feedback on/through talk that can help?

Important to focus on the messaging to students AND parents! What is the message? Do families know how to access YTD attendance data? And do they know how to interpret it (e.g. do they know that 90% YTD is actually bad?) And do you analyze your school Daily Attendance to identify the lowest 5-10 attendance days of the year and create a messaging action plan based on that analysis?
