Mr. Rooney has underlying medical conditions and believes his health is compromised when he is near anyone not wearing a mask. Mr. Rooney spoke to Ferris multiple times about the importance of following the school’s mask policy and called his parents as well. Ferris begrudgingly wore his mask in school after a few more interventions. Mr. Rooney indicated to all of his students that he will continue to wear his mask at all times in and outside the school building if the mask mandate ends. Ferris is not concerned about Covid at all, but complied with the school’s mask policy to avoid getting in trouble. On the very first day of the mask mandate ending in school, Ferris walks into Mr. Rooney’s class without a mask and proclaims, “Covid is over! We don’t need a mask! It’s time to be free!
