I think having the money go toward charter schools hurt how well the public education system could do. I think the poverty rate plays a huge role in how successful their student are. If those students do not have their basic needs met, they are not able to learn effectively. I think if money would have been invested in the public schools, then there would not have been a need to create more charter schools.

The money from the government for schools is being spread more widely between traditional and charter public schools. I think it is important to not discount the success of some charter schools. Just being there are some bad apples in the system does not mean the whole thing is a bad tree. I do understand how teacher's and teacher unions can get upset because they wish the best for the students they teach. It is hard to help all students, especially if their most basic needs are not being met first because they face poverty. I think that the money right now is going where it is suppose to be and that the long term affects are what we need to wait and see.

Most of the money seems to be sent to public and charter schools. Some schools may do worse than others but that can be due to many factors, not just money intake or funds. As awful as it may be to admit, not every student can be saved and not every student can be given equal chances with the money given. But the job of a teacher is to strive to give these equal chances.

Public funding has been shifting from public schools to charter schools in the past 10 years, which causes less money to be sent to the schools who need it most. The reform plans failed because charter school performance stays stagnant no matter how much funding the school gets, but as traditional public schools lose funding their performance drastically goes down due to the lack of opportunity to have good educational tools and proficient teachers.
