         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie pioneered the One for One® model—giving away one pair of shoes for every pair sold, supporting larger health, education, and community development programs through strategic partnerships.<br><br>The inspiration for Toms came when Mycoskie was touring around Argentina in early 2006, following a day spent volunteering at a local non-profit organization in Buenos Aires. Working from a traditional Argentinean slip-on shoe, Mycoskie built a prototype and set an initial goal to donate shoes to 250 children by selling stock in small local boutiques and stores in Los Angeles.<br><br>A pioneer of social entrepreneurship, Mycoskie’s philanthropy and business model earned him the 2009 Award of Corporate Excellence by then US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.<br><br>A serial entrepreneur, Mycoskie established his first business in the mid '90s with EZ Laundry, a door-to-door campus laundry service for students, as a freshman at Southern Methodist University. Following his graduation, Mycoskie relocated to Nashville in 1999 where, inspired by the booming billboard industry, he set up his own outdoor media company, Mycoskie Media, securing prominent billboards around the city.<br><br>Actively engaged with NGOs and a frequent guest at global conferences on philanthropy, Mycoskie also plays a pivotal role in promoting social entrepreneurship start-ups.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This Ukraine-based brand calls itself a “clothing constructor”. They aim to end over consumption by allowing its customers to create new clothes by zipping different elements. They have a wide option of elements including “sleeves, pockets, hoods, skirts and pants.” However, their products are not doing too well. Their website is very basic and does not look to appealing and thus not help acquire new customers online. Additionally, I believe that they are ahead of their time because the concept of deconstructive clothing is not quite widely accepted yet and if they were trying to penetrate the marketspace, their prices should have been more budget friendly rather than being on the expensive side because when people spend so much money on something they want unique items rather than having to only be able to replace certain elements on the same garment.&nbsp;<br><br>Website Link- https://ncyzip.com/en-gb/collections/ready-looks</div><div><br></div><div>ZipIt has taken a different approach with this concept and created a collection for children rather than adults because then we can market it as a “game” that helps develop decision making skills in a child. Starting with the United Kingdom and then expanding to other regions such as America and Canada.&nbsp;<br><br>Target-<br>The market is large enough in the UK itself with over 6 million children between the age of 4 to 12 years out of which about 3 million children belong to families that have sufficient funds to purchase the product and become repeating customers. People with children tend to discuss their choices with other individuals who have children, because of which word of mouth would be an efficient way to acquire customers.&nbsp;<br><br>Population-&nbsp;<br>The brand's position is mostly functional as it deals with the problem of unsustainability in the fashion industry.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The fashion industry has interested me from a young age. I have always looked at it for its glamor, but as I grew up I learnt about its unsustainable practices. My curiosity led me to conduct research into understanding how the fashion industry has become the second most polluting industry in the world. There are a number of problems with the way things are currently done- the manufacturing process uses too much resources and people buy too many clothes only to wear them once. Not only this, but improper care and washing techniques also adds microfibers to the water. The waste from these sectors ends up polluting the environment which makes the process unsustainable.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The product that I am proposing, deals with how people treat their clothes and their shopping habits while also minimizing wastage in the manufacturing process. The aim is to reduce the amount of textile waste that reaches the landfills. It is a t-shirt for kids with some detachable elements such as sleeves and a hood. Kids tend to dirty and damage their clothes quite frequently. This product will allow mothers to replace the damaged parts rather than having to discard the entire outfit. Additionally, the sleeves and hood will be made separately and since they require less fabric, the fabric left over after cutting out the t-shirt can be used. Both these things will reduce the amount of textile waste that reaches landfills.</div><div><br></div><div>A survey will be conducted in order to understand how parents, relatives or friends shop for children, what are the things that they look for in a garment before making a purchase. Looking at secondary sources will validated the need for this product. People are becoming more and more aware about environmental conditions and demanding brands for more sustainable options. Consumers are looking for budget friendly options that are long lasting and reduce waste. Additionally, it has been seen that letting children pick their own clothes strengthens decision making and promotes independence. The product itself will create an engaging activity for kids and make dressing up more enjoyable because they will get to pick out and create fun and quirky looks for themselves.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>My future goal is to take my sustainable ideas and create them into a brand, something that does more good than harm, if at all, for the environment without asking its customers to compromise on quality or choice. In order to be able to do this, I believe I need to have a complete understanding of how a brand operates. Which is why I want to do a course that covers all aspects of fashion business and gives me sufficient knowledge to be able to run my own brand. This project will allow me to start developing my idea further and consider different aspects that are required before it can turn into a functioning business. It will help me identify my strengths and weaknesses so that I can work on them and better myself for the future.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
