         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1880&nbsp; Henry Faulds, a Scottish physician working in Tokyo, published a paper in the journal Nature suggesting that fingerprints at the scene of a crime could identify the offender. In one of the first recorded uses of fingerprints to solve a crime, Faulds used fingerprints to eliminate an innocent suspect and indicate a perpetrator in a Tokyo burglary.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the 2000's the comparison of certain parts of the DNA molecule called Short Tandem Repeats (STR) was advancing the usefulness of fingerprints and DNA . However this technique was not fully accepted, and consequently was not often used until the early 2000s, when the FBI started using the technique as an improvement over existing techniques. Analysis of DNA with the STR method, in combination with a technique called PCR, allows much smaller amount of DNA to be identified, and can be used on DNA that has been partially damaged.<sup>3</sup></div>]]></description>
