Connections that I found between the poem and the art are -

* "Was vanishing; the branch, so pinched and slow, Failed in its function as the autumn rake; Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to take All water from the streams; dead birds were found" these sentences somewhat answer my question when I asked weather this panting tackles drought problems. This also connects to art since the art itself is in a dessert and there's a skull hovering over it. signifies drought problems.

* "when the flower bloomed." connects to the art because there was a flower in the painting near the skull. The flower here is blooming in a place where there is a lot of death that surrounds it. Hence they connect the idea of the beauty that surrounds death.

* "Brown eyes that loved without a trace of fear, Beauty so sudden for that time of year." these sentences also connects to the art I got because it's potential central idea was that beauty can thrive even after death. and this poem tackles the same central idea.

My groups art and poem's central art is that there is a rebirth of nature after death.
- "Such was the season when the flower bloomed.

Old folks were startled, and it soon assumed

Significance. Superstition saw". This connects to the artwork by showing that after death there is a rebirth of nature. The blooming flower represents beauty and how after death rebirth is expected.

- "Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to take

All water from the streams; dead birds were found

In wells a hundred feet below the ground". This connects to the painting because it describes the skull which represents death. It shows that all things must eventually come to an end for something better to begin.
- "Old folks were startled, and it soon assumed

Significance. Superstition saw

Something it had never seen before:

Brown eyes that loved without a trace of fear,

Beauty so sudden for that time of year." This connects to the artwork by showing that there is unexpected beauty that follows death. This is after death since there is significance of beauty and rebirth/

The three connections I made between my groups' art and the poem were:
_______________________________________
-One connection I made to the art is the beauty of brown eyes in the poem being similar to the beautiful flower that helps develop the idea of death being beautiful. As shown in the following quote, "Something it had never seen before: Brown eyes that loved without a trace of fear, Beauty so sudden for that time of year.''(November Cotton Flower, Lines 12-14).

- Another connection I made to the art is the dead birds in the poem; and the dead ram in the picture symbolizing death. As shown in the following quote, "Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to take All water from the streams; dead birds were found."(November Cotton Flower, Lines 6 and 7).

- Finally, another connection I made to the painting is the art having a flower blooming and symbolizes the beauty of death and rebirth In a dull background. That is also similar to the harsh environment of the flower in the poem. As shown in the following quote, "Such was the season when the flower bloomed."(November Cotton Flower, Line 9).
--------------------------------------
~ A central idea for both the poem and art is through death there is. A rebirth of nature that is beautiful.

The three connections I found between the art and the poem was:
_____________________________________________
- I established a connection between the poem's dead birds and the picture's dead ram, which represents death. As the following quotation demonstrates, "Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to take All water from the streams; dead birds were found."

- "Such was the season when the flower bloomed." This quotation relates to the artwork because the blossoming flowers are similar to the flower in the picture, and the blooming flowers might be a sign of rebirth.

- The poem states “siren howls, and wheels rumbling, through the dark city”, this relates to the artwork because the number 5 on the firetruck comes closer and closer in the image, indicating how the firetruck is roaring through the city and closing in. Also, the painting's background is dark gray, indicating that it is nighttime, and the structures, indicate that it is a city.
_____________________________________________
- A central idea throughout both is that things might not always serve a purpose, and you should constantly expect the unexpected.
