Social media is important for communication with people who you are not in touch with anymore, especially since we will be going to college soon and we won't be with a lot of the people that we have grown up with for 12 years. The things that are made easier with social media are better without social media. Relationships fail without physical contact. People spend too much time with social media even though it's only entertainment. I think there can be many benefits to social media but a wide range of it is unhelpful. Of course you can connect easier using this and stay informed. But it can also distract you from real life problems, along with little face to face interaction. Information shared on social media can be very impactful with little consequence.

In my opinion the bigger aspects of social media, like sharing information, staying connected, staying updated and everything social, is much positive than most negatives. The major negative is it can be addicting but that can be controlled. As humans, we love gossiping, knowing stuff, being entertained and I think that's everything good with social medias.

Social media is not good or bad on its own. It all depends on who is using it, whether it be a bully calling someone ugly or an aunt trying to invite the family to her sons birthday party. The morals of social media is dependent on who is using it and their intentions. Yes there is cyber bullying and criminal activity on social media. But there is also families connecting, sharing world news and complimenting your friends. While social media has great uses for disaster coverage, public opinion polls, source material, and connections, it falls in the aspect of social development. People need to perform in life, do something and feel a purpose for doing it. They are also the audience to the lives of others. However, social media has people be audiences to their own lives as well as to others, all while performing, so the outcome amounts to lower self-esteem. Low self-esteem due to "FOMO" (fear of missing out) as explained in the previous allegory, leads to insecurities and unstable, immature behavior. On top of this, connecting with people is deceptively more stressful and pressured, and not at all like talking in person. There's the obvious and commonly-used statement about tone and interpretation and etc, but what I am talking about is the constant pressure to talk through a messenger. It seems that the act of being alone with someone in person and and sitting in silence is dead. People have become more sensitive, unnecessarily chatty, and have lost their chill over time, and maybe we should all dial it back a bit.
