The church commemorates the death of St.  Cecilia, a noble family lady who died in an undetermined year between 180 and 230 of our era once being tortured for her conversion to Christianity.  It appears that a lot of its history is thought because of the looks within the  middle of the fifth century of texts referred to as 'Acts of the martyrdom of St. Cecilia'. 
They indicate that the young woman converts to Christianity that her parents married her to a noble pagan who, on the wedding night, the bride makes it understood that she has given herself to God.By this it means that he keeps his virginity for him and that it is guarded by an angel.

They were not good times in Rome for Christians and were condemned to die in cruel ways. In Cecilia's case, they initially tried it inside the thermal baths of her own house, trying to steam her without managing it. 
Then an executioner was sent to cut off hes head: the story says that he threw his axe at her 3 times without killing her, he left her bleeding yet she was alive. 
Although she died three days later.
