This quote, I think, goes with the theme of this story because when the surgeon was slowly killing his patients he was thinking that when Charles kills them people would notice them more. Charles was a night nurse that was known to have killed a judge, priest, and a much larger group of people, in all. Through out the book the author explained how Charles would mess with the patients medicine amount, IV bags, or the type of medicine he would prescribe, for them.
