Throughout previous years NYC has seen a dramatic decrease in crimes, this has been suspected result of changing the polices tactics and strategies. Such as adopting the following theory:
- 'Broken Windows' policing tactic has shown a decrease of violence street crimes in NY (over 60,000 crimes prevented) (Kelling 2001).
Due to the police showing efforts in street crime such as theft and drugs, there has also been a reduced rate of cocaine use leading towards the decrease of socioeconomic disadvantage among youth.

This 'broken windows' theory has been spoken of before in other units such as 'People, Place and Social Difference'.

I agree with this article as the NY police have adopted a form of community policing, focusing on building the relationship between the police and citizen, resulting in rapport.
https://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/do-police-matter-analysis-impact-new-york-citys-police-reforms-5800.html
