Currently, there are four (4) Secretariat positions available.

There are 9 Secretariat members, three (3) from each college: community & voluntary, social inclusion, and environment. The Secretariat works in a "Flat Structure". One key feature of this is the "Rotating Facilitator" All Secretariat Members should have an opportunity to serve as "Rotating Facilitator".

There are opportunities to sit on sub-groups or working groups: such as HR Liaison, Governance, Finance and individual projects.

The Secretariat develop the work plan and budget and present this to the Plenary for approval. They oversee and support the staff to carry out the work plan and spend the budget during the year through the HR Liaison Sub-group. 

The Secretariat delivers two (2) in-person Plenary Meetings (like an AGM and EGM) with the support of the Staff. There are two plenaries per year in Summer and Winter. Ideally, all Secretariat members would attend the Plenary, and the meeting is chaired by the outgoing "Rotating Facilitator".

In-between meetings the Secretariat may receive 1-3 emails per week. Most of these are information-only emails. Depending on their sub-group membership, they may receive emails where they need to take action or make a decision or a contribution. The staff support their decision-making through research and presenting briefs to aid this decision-making.

To be eligible for these vacancies, your member organisation must work with or represent one of the above communities in Cork City.

These meetings take place on the third (3rd) Monday of the month in the evening.

PPN Representatives must also attend the Housing, Planning & Transport Linkage Group meetings. These take place four (4) times per year (one (1) per quarter) on an evening midweek.

The Heritage Forum has one (1) vacancy available.

Any PPN member is eligible for this position, regardless of Pillar, provided you have an interest in the Forum and can commit to attending and engaging in the meetings.

This Heritage Plan is a 5-year action plan to help protect, promote and enhance the Heritage of Cork City.

Two (2) meetings per year for subsequent years.

All meetings will be held during the day in City Hall.

There will be optional sub-groups that the representative can volunteer for.

PPN Rep will also have to participate in a PPN induction in early December 2025.

Who are the members?

The Task Force is made up of representatives from the following groups and organisations:

Cork City Council, Cork Prison, Cork ETB, Department of Social Protection, Garda Siochana, Probation Service, Voluntary cluster, Co-ordinator SRDATF, Liaison Person DPU, HSE Co-ordinator of Drug & Alcohol Services, Cork City Council – Social Inclusion. 

I attend, partake in and contribute to Linkage groups. I have extensive work experience in the public and private sector in financial and executive roles. I am a volunteer with Bishopstown Meals on Wheels and have a keen interest in international human rights.

I feel I would bring the voice of disabled Cork residents to the Secretariat.

My interest is in the promotion of sustainable travel with all aspects and other fields that have a decisive impact on everyday travel. Spatial and Urban Planning play a key role in enabling a transformation of our daily travel patterns which is necessary to meet Irelands carbon reduction emission targets in the transport sector.

As rep in the Strategic, Economic Development, Enterprise and Planning SPC I would see my role in ensuring that Cork City will further develop into a place where everybody has a place and will find the shops, services, schools, creches etc. they need in their daily lives, as well as homes and jobs, within easy reach. A reduction in car dependency following the paradigm of the ’15-minute-city’ (see e.g. RSES Southern Region for 2040) will be a key aspect to this.

I have a degree in Transportation Planning and have 20 years’ experience working in transport planning for UCC. I have been active in the Cork Cycling Campaign for years and have served the Cork City PPN as rep on the Roads and Transport SPC between 2016 and 2024.
