The most important part of my identity is my gender. Being female affects how I approach everyday life and my ultimate goals for the future. I have a positive and negative connotation with being a woman because of the abilities that come with it, but also the things I am unable to do. I am able to have children because of my gender. On the downside, I understand that I would feel uncomfortable walking alone at night in Austin. Opportunities and limitations come along with this key factor in my life. My understanding is that women should be more fearful and aware but also grateful. Racial discrimination could HURT them even more because that part of their life is the most important thing and they are protective of that part of their lives. It hits them very personally and requires longer to heal from the insult.

Blacks said that they have overall been more hurt because of their appearances rather than it helping them. Asians, Hispanics, and Whites claim that their race has generally helped them or gave some sort of advantage.

With that, Blacks are also more likely to see their race being the main component of their identity. They could be so hyperaware of their race due to discrimination or disadvantages that come from it, that it does take a big role in their lives. 

Asian and Hispanics are slightly less, but they could view their race as important because of the benefits that come with it.

Whites tend to mostly say their race has no effect on them. This could be from the lack of thought about their race.
