In the classroom, there are many ways that we can celebrate our differences and respect them as well. One way is the way we decorate our classrooms. To make a multicultural classroom, we can decorate with various posters, and maps of other cultures. Another way is by giving the students opportunities for flexible seating. For example, comfortable reading chairs, and stools instead of typical chairs. It is important to use language that is respectful to all cultures and foster an atmosphere that students are willing to share their own cultural experiences. To establish community norms, educators should create a class agreement that guides students towards showing others empathy, respect and communicate inclusively. This class agreement can be hand written by students and posted somewhere we all the students can see it.

Acknowledging and utilizing students cultural backgrounds in teaching and the learning process is important in providing a multicultural education and environment. "Pre-service and new teachers are often unprepared to teach in a school where the students’ life experiences are essentially different from their own "(Pre-service 2016). Some methods that educators can use is it connect the curriculum with the lives of our students, and give them opportunities to share their own perspectives. Another method is to have students to work in groups and to be able to collaborate. This gives them the opportunity to listen to diverse perspectives. A way that we can provide different teaching styles to diverse learners is by giving them flexible group work, and by giving work that correlates with their learning abilities. Another way is to implement more visuals into the classroom. This accommodates to our inclusion students and those who respond to visuals better when it comes to understanding.

REFERENCE:

Pre-service Teachers’ Perceptions of Culturally Responsive Teacher Preparation.

Having parents and guardians involved in a students school life benefits the students education tremendously. As a educator there is ways that we can help involve guardians and parents. Ways that we can get others involved in the education process is by celebrating multicultural days. “ When there is an important day to be celebrated such as festivals, students celebrate that day regardless of their backgrounds, they share and involve in those activities"(Abduh 2023).We can enhance this by providing culturally appropriate food, and music. Another way to get them involved is by having guest speakers that corelate with curriculum. This can add understanding and personal experiences.

REFERENCE:

Abduh, A., Rosmaladewi, & Andrew, M. (2023).
