This novel describes traditional food recipes in the country of Mexico. I learned that there are certain traditions that that get carried on in Mexico. There are many themes that can be portrayed in this novel but a major theme is fate. This is portrayed in the novel because Tita and Pedro's romance is forbidden due to a tradition that her family follows; and this tradition states that Tita must take care of her mother until she dies. Their romance is always present in the book but they end up together at the end of the novel.

I was really inspired by this because you begin to really focus on the real issues in the region. This research matters to me because I am from this world region and it is important to be educated on this topic. This matters to people around me because it affects millions of people and multiple countries. This matters to the world because it shows how more attention to the issue is necessary.

The things that I learned about regarding the culture in the region of Mexico she is from is that it is very united by religion. There is multiple religions there but the biggest one is Catholicism. The festivities there revolve around the catholic faith. Regarding geography in that region it is a mix of dry dirt land and some vegetation including hills. There is a lot of issues up to this day regarding the dump near by the village, there is a lot of conflict because some people say that the dump is a health hazard and some say it is necessary to have it. I believe that this book is important to me because the message was strong and taught me lessons.

In this legend there is a character named Maria and she is very beautiful. Her beauty leads to a rich man liking her and when this happens they have twin girls later on. The rich man leaves Maria and she raises her daughter on her own. When this happens he comes back with another women and he only speaks to his children and ignores Maria. This leads her to kill her two daughters by throwing them in a river. She did not realize that she had killed them so she through herself as well. The theme in this legend is that being selfish can have serious consequences. This is the theme because Maria had a big issue with not being noticed and it lead her to commit the selfish act of killing her children.

I really enjoyed creating this project. It really made me think creatively and made our group learn a little more about the culture from our world region of the Americas. The cultural aspects that we included in the project are the visuals in the back ground. The class seemed to have enjoyed our transformation. They laughed and seemed intrigued. Our strengths while working on this project are that we had team work, and we put in a lot of time and effort into the presentation. One of weaknesses was that our theme was not as clear to the audience as we had thought. This transformation is important to me because I learned a lot about the country of mexico in the category of geography. This is important to the community and world because it sends out a powerful theme people can learn from while also learning about the country and it's culture.

The main character Enrique talks about his whole journey migrating to the United States. He shows the struggles of what drugs lead to and what effects they can have later on. His journey can be taken as an inspiration because he had to take his family to a better place. This book talks about all the people he encounters that are in a similar situation. It shows the people he traveled with on the train and how there was many tragedies that would occur. This book is important to the people around me because it can teach things about the culture and teach valuable lessons. This book might matter to the world because it spreads information about the culture.

In the novel Parrot in the Oven by Victor Martinez it talks a lot about the american immigrant experience. Manny's family is mexican and many is mexican american. In the novel it talks about Manny's parents struggling to make it by financially. This also affects there family life. His dad is an alcoholic at the beginning of the story and he is not working which makes it tough for the rest of the family. They go through rough patches in there family and Manny. This also talked about the family violence because they are struggling financially. I can relate to some parts of the book because my parents had to immigrate from Mexico. This book might matter to me because I can relate to some aspects of this story. It might relate to people around me because it might open their eyes to a new perspective on immigrants. This might matter to the world because its good to read about potential struggles.
https://www.wevideo.com/view/1074732111

It made me analyze the book on a deeper level. It also kept me on track as far as what page I should be on. The only part of creating the website that I did not enjoy was having technical issues when I first began. There was times where the formatting on the website would change when published. I believe that my website successfully showcases how I analyzed this novel. This book matters to me because it helped me learn a lot about soccer and El Gato's life lessons that he learned. This book is important to the people around me because they can learn a few things from analyzing the event in this book. This book matters to the world because some of the themes found in this novel can relate to most people around the world.

It was really slow paced, the plot advanced very slowly. I was able to finish the book quickly because it was a graphic novel. It was full of conflict every few pages because it was a summary of her life. I was often surprised by the things that I learned about her throughout the book. While reading this novel I was often reflecting about things that happened in her life and how she chose to solve them. I think that this a good novel to read if you are interested in learning about. This book matters to me because I had the opportunity to learn about Frida. This book is important to the people around me because it mentioned some historical events about Mexico at the time. This book matters to the world because it showed that persistence is key and how frida never gave up drawing even if she was injured.

Planning, Producing, and Presenting the Cultural Exchange Project

I really liked the process of producing and presenting the Cultural Exchange Project. I really liked it because I am a person who loves being creative and this project really made me chanel that. I liked learning about my world regions culture. Even though I am from Mexico and that is the culture that we presented on I learned a lot more about the culture. Even though the culture of Mexico can be thought of as easy to present it is not because you have to do a lot more research and make sure not to include something so generalized. It was important for me to give it all my effort. If I were to do something differently it would have been being more of a leader then I was that day. I would have also gotten out earlier of my third period so that there was more time to set up decorations and heat the food. We thought that 50 minutes would be enough to do all that we needed to do to set up but it wasn't.What I learned about myself is that I like working in a group, I thought that I was better at working individually but I was wrong. What I learned with my group is that even though we did have a lot of fun we also put in our best effort for all the projects. What I learned about the community is that there are a lot of kind and generous people who are kind enough to dedicate their time to students presenting. What I learned about the world are some of the major cultures in some of the big countries. It was interesting to see it all come together. How I felt before presenting this project is happy and excited because planning what we were going to do was so much fun. The putting that plan into action for example, when we met up to prepare the food and cooking that and when we went to the store and buying the candy. That was all very exciting for me because I really enjoy projects like these. During the presentation I did feel a little nervous because we were so stressed about the guests getting there early. After the project I still felt very nervous because I was nervous about my grade and how well I was going to do. Yes I am proud of myself because even though I didn't speak a lot it usually takes me a lot of courage to speak in front of others. I get really nervous and my voice gets shaky. Yes I did learn a lot about my world region based on the books we read and all the projects we did that accompanied them. All I would do different if I had a chance to start over is I would push myself harder to speak up more during the presentation. This project mattered to me because even though it was about my culture I learned more about it. This project matters to the community and the world because it informs people about whats actually in the culture instead of going based on assumptions.

What I learned about this country is that they won no medals through the games. They are a country who focuses more on summer sports since the country is placed in South America. I also learned about the languages spoken there and how big the country is and so on. I did not learn so much about their culture but of how the country looks. I learned a lot of figure skating terms when I was learning about the winter olympics and about what other games are played.
