I like that the worksheets are made for you.

I like that there is an editable version as needed.

I like that there is a phenomena given for each, you don't have to think of your own.

I can imagine using some parts of these units. There are some projects that I think have been valuable and match the age level we work with a little better at times but I think some smaller lessons could be beneficial.

I loved the storylines, simulations, and video playlists for students.

The units are very long.

There aren't many opportunities to practice science text reading.

To work the most effectively it needs to be taught in the order they suggest.

Some lessons I've seen used before in other districts were on there that I think could definitely be incorporated into our curriculum.

The simulations are great.

The idea of using an anchoring phenomenon for a unit is great and we could build off it by making the examples more localized & relevant to our students and their interests.

The unit outlines give newer teachers to the district a good layout of how student understanding is expected to unfold throughout the unit.

I can envision implementing OpenSciEd in my classroom as long as I don't have to follow it to the t. I would like the ability to be able to make the call on what will work best for my class and edit as needed. You know, cut a lesson or add a lesson as needed, turn a hands on lab into a demo, that kind of thing.

At this time I can not, not having any of the materials they use. We already use similar things, and even exact copies. Some of their simulations I saw were not as strong as PhETs we use.

Because it works best for spiraled curriculum, we would have to seriously consider and agree on whether or not we are going to spiral as a department

Challenges: Can be daunting to have to sort/sift through pages and pages of resources. Unit lengths seem very long and would likely have to be adapted to fit our scope and sequence.

I can see it taking a lot of time and collaboration to be able to adapt some of the resources to fit with the materials we already use, but it could definitely be done, just not for next year.

I would use some simulations or individual lessons, but I would want to make sure the whole PLC is on the same page before doing much more with it.
