What stories of respect do my ancestors teach me?

When I was listening to the video, I was trying to re-member "What stories from my ancestors about respect do I want to pass on to others and future generations.

This leads me to a path of research through remembering these stories. I am feeling like I could share a story from my culture/family that teaches respect. Others would be welcome to reciprocate. What songs, art, practices, stories, do your ancestors carry forward through you?

Respect for other living beings on Earth - Hanling Wang

There's a massacre going on in China right now.

It's about the slaughter of countless stray animals.

Some people lure stray dogs into houses and then abuse them on live streaming; some people put stray cats in paint and drown them; some people even disembowel newborn stray puppies and kittens and then post them on the Internet to show them off.

The perpetrators of this carnage not only range from psychopaths, but even the government has acquiesced to the behavior of these demons.

Nowadays, in many universities, neighborhoods and even on the streets, there are security guards or police officers hunting down stray dogs and cats, even though many of these animals don't hurt us at all.

Huang Huang, the dog in the picture, was likewise killed alive by security guards at Chongqing College of International Business and Economics. According to the description of the school students, Huang Huang is usually very gentle, summer heat will hide under the shade of a tree to cool off; winter cold will go to the students donated a small nest to warm up; even usually beg for food from everyone is very gentle and well-behaved. Even when she was caught by the security guards with a plunge net, she was smiling because she thought she was going to have a home and someone to love her. But unfortunately, she was beaten to death, and even before she was beaten to death, even though she was vomiting blood, she did not scream at the security guard who beat her.

There are countless such tragic incidents in China, and I believe that animal cruelty exists not only in China, but also in many regions and countries around the world.

Therefore, I would like to relate this issue to the theme of our study: respect. Not only do we need to have respect for people, but we also need to have respect for other living things. The earth originally belongs to the living creatures, but due to the development of modern technology, we have lost more and more respect for the protection of animals and plants, and even the idea that human beings dominate everything. According to a recent study published in the journal Nature, since the beginning of human civilization, people have cut down 15 billion trees every year, and the number of trees in the world has decreased by 46%. The loss of trees, the creation of factories and automobiles have resulted in one-third of the world's land area being threatened by desertification, the accumulation of more than 35 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and the extinction of between 10,000 and 100,000 species each year.

In order to regain respect for other living creatures, I have also made efforts to speak out on many platforms and do charity work for plants and animals on different platforms, from donating money and goods to volunteering, I try my best to appeal to people to stop harming other living creatures and create a better living environment for our seeds.

References:

1.https://weibo.com/5316526111/4958689566134811

2.https://time.com/4019277/trees-humans-deforestation/

3.https://www.theworldcounts.com/challenges/planet-earth/forests-and-deserts/global-land-degradation

4.https://climate.nasa.gov/news/3020/how-much-carbon-dioxide-are-we-emitting/

5.https://wwf.panda.org/discover/our_focus/biodiversity/biodiversity/
