I’m Theresa, the Lead Educator at Pacific Lutheran Early Learning. I am 30 years old, originally from the beautiful city of Munich, Germany. I’m passionate about education, creativity, and making meaningful connections with the humans around me. I’m someone who thrives on travel, new experiences, and finding joy in the small things, whether it's watching the sunrise, sharing a good story, or getting completely lost in a new city or country. Coffee is my love language, and I believe laughter and curiosity are essential ingredients in both life and learning. I come from a big family, I have six sisters and I’m the second oldest! While all my family is still in Germany, I’ve built a warm and happy home away from home here in Bokarina on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.

My Career Pathway

I graduated with my high school diploma in 2014 in Munich, Germany. Shortly after, I moved to Hawaii, USA, where I began my academic journey by enrolling in a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Finance in August 2014. After completing my undergraduate degree in 2018, I continued on to a Master’s program in the same field.

Partway through my postgraduate studies, I relocated to Australia and completed my Master’s degree in 2020. I then returned to Germany for approximately 10 months, where I worked at Deutsche Bank under the guidance of my uncle.

Driven by my love of travel and new experiences, I eventually returned to Australia, where I chose to settle long-term. I became a permanent resident in 2024. My passion for working with children led me to shift my career focus, and in late 2023, I commenced my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, followed by the Diploma. I proudly graduated in June 2024

I am currently employed as the Lead Educator at Pacific Lutheran Early Learning Centre, working in the 15 months to 3 years room. In this role, I support and guide young children through their early developmental milestones, fostering a nurturing, responsive, and play-based learning environment. I value building strong relationships with both children and families and see every interaction as an opportunity to support each child’s sense of belonging, agency, and wellbeing.

Working in early childhood education allows me to combine my passion for creativity, connection, and meaningful learning experiences every day.

Goals

One of my main goals is to become an Australian citizen and really make this country my home. Traveling to Antarctica has always been on my bucket list since I want to visit all seven continents and see the amazing places they have to offer. I also plan to buy another property in Australia to secure my future. Learning another language is important to me because I love connecting with people from different cultures.

My main academic goal is to finish my Bachelor in Early Childhood Education so I can make a positive difference in childrens' lives. After that, I want to do my Master’s degree to learn even more and open up new career opportunities. Along the way, I hope to make good friends and become a better leader, building my confidence and communication skills.

I would also like to spend a year or two teaching at an international school in Europe, combining my love for travel and teaching. Eventually, I’d like to retire between Australia and Germany, enjoying a warm, endless summer and the best of both places.

Overall, I’m excited to keep growing, trying new things, and making a difference wherever life takes me.

On my second day of placement, I continued settling into the routine and reconnecting with the children and educators. As I had been away during NAIDOC Week, the children were eager to show me the artworks and projects they had created.

Their pride and excitement gave me insight into how the centre meaningfully incorporates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. I also spoke with educators about how these experiences were planned, which helped me consider how I might embed cultural learning in my own practice.

This experience reinforced the centre’s inclusive environment and inspired me to continue building strong, respectful relationships.
