         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Research Question: </strong>Does consistent near-peer mentoring have a positive impact on youth mental health trends over adolescence/young adulthood?</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Variables:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Dependent variable: mental health trends</p></li><li><p>Independent variable: consistent near-peer mentoring</p></li><li><p>Control variable: one group of participants who recieve no near-peer mentoring</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Description of Design: </strong>This design provides several snapshots of the same characteristics repeated at equal time intervals within the same population to identify trends, rate of change or development in occurrence of one or more variables.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Participants: </strong>Youth mentees and mentors in a specific school system </p><p><strong>Data Collection Method: </strong>Surveys conducted with mentees twice a year, on the even years from ages 10 -24 (early adolescence through early adulthood). </p>]]></description>
