         <description><![CDATA[<div>The society rankings in the order of most important:<br>The Emperor, next is the Shogun, then Daimyo, Samurai warriors, the Peasants and Artisans, and lastly the Merchants. <br>Even though the Emperor is top ranked, the actual ruler was the Shogun. The Shogun was the <em>Supreme Military Commander</em> as the Emperor was a leader with less <em>real </em>power.</div>]]></description>

Soon Christians were starting to convert the Japanese and the success of the missionaries upset Tokugawa Ieyasu. He decided to ban Christianity throughout Japan. After Ieyasu died, Christianity started to come back. To end it finally, European missionaries were killed or driven out of Japan. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It all started in 1639 when Japan established a <em>closed country policy</em>. Although Japan was closed, they did allow only Dutch and Chinese merchants into the Nagasaki port to trade. Nagasaki is home to large industries and production of ships and military equipment. Not only was Japan "closed" for more than 200 years, the Japanese were also forbidden to leave. </div>]]></description>
