This is for me to gain an insight on what people like watching. I have chosen to keep my target audience from the age of 15-18. There are two questionnaires for 15-20 people, a focus group, market research and audience research showing the audience reactions to trailers. Lastly, I will be using a website called SurveyMonkey to analyse my findings. I think this is a suitable age range as I can use a variety of features in my trailer to impress all ages in this age range. Also, I have access to this age range through my school and college, making it easier for me to conduct my research. This way, I got people to express their opinions openly and this was an advantage to me as I was able to infer the preferred readings from individuals' opinions. For my quantitative research, I decided to use the same questionnaire and a website called SurveyMonkey. By using a closed questionnaire this time, I was able to find out how many people ticked the same box and this will help me and my group with our production work as we will be able to add features that the audience want, hopefully making our media products successful. I believe that this is suitable to gain a detailed response from my target audience. I have decided to give my questionnaire to both boys and girls from my target audience as I cannot make my findings biased to one gender only. As an extra piece of research, I am planning to record the response of a couple of people and video their spoken opinions, which will also be considered as qualitative research. Prior to this recording, I will have to brief my participants with the wrong aim which may be immorally wrong however, if this isn't done, there will be demand characteristics, making the research unreliable. I will brief them with the aim slightly change and record their reactions to a number of trailers to note what they react to. I will then interview them, asking them a variety of questions linked to the horror genre for example what they are most afraid of and what their favourite horror movie or scene is and why.
