1. My relationship with reading is a good one. Throughout high school and school in general i have loved reading books, such as action or fiction or any historical books on an interesting subject. Right now that has changed a little bit with the fact that Ive been too busy to read lately. I mostly have positive associations because i have read so many books and most are so interesting that I can finish them in a week or so. The only negative interaction I can really think of is when I would have parents try to get me to read book on subjects I find uninteresting or boring. Mainly read fiction or historical books, things that were really able to capture my attention and keep me hooked on reading. No matter what the book is, if it is interesting to me i can finish it extremely fast.

2. My relationship with writing is a bit different from that of my reading. I have more negative associations towards writing because reading has always come easy, but writing took a lot more stress and didn't come very easy to me. I usually only write if its school related and i prefer to write with pen over type because it makes it feel more natural and i feel as though i write better. Writing was the part of english that was the most difficult, but through my last two years of high school i had teachers that pushed me out of that comfort zone and actually helped me to learn to enjoy writing.

1. My positive reading relationships are with books/topics I like to read about like action, history, and manga. Some action I like to read were books like the Percy Jackson series which I was introduced to in elementary school and continued to read up until the beginning of high school. I also love to read history books, especially ones about war and battles. I got introduced into this topic of reading by US History teacher during my junior year I read a book about the Black Panthers, a tank battalion. My negative associations with reading are textbook works and articles/topics which don't interest me. When I read for fun, the only tool I probably would use is a bookmark. However, when I read for school, I would use Kami to mark up my text and Google Docs and Classroom to turn in my notes.

2. My current relationship with writing is okay. The things I write are mostly for school assignments like essays, notes on textbook reading, and research papers. One thing I enjoyed from my senior year of high school was writing a research paper on how the US Army is using video games to recruit teenagers. I found it fun since I was allowed to pick my own topic and do my own research. The basic tools which I used for this paper were Google Classroom and Google Documents to turn in the work. For research, I used the ProQuest databases to find info on my topic. I also used NoodleTools to create notecards for quotes I used in my writing.

1. I would say I have a positive relationship with reading as I have always enjoyed reading whether it be for school or leisure as long as it is something that interests me or can keep me turning the page other wise I can’t say I’ll get a lot done. Although I did read a lot in high school and over break I can’t say I’ve been keeping up with my reading as I have been busy and mainly focused on school now; I would still say I have a positive association with reading as I have read many different books, articles, and pieces of all sorts. I read mostly detective/mystery but also horror and many classics, although most were for school I enjoyed all of them to say the least, but once I am intrigued I can finish a book in a week. One tool I did use was an extension called “Scrible” which was a toolbar you could open and use for any document or website and highlight or take notes of things and everything would be saved in your Scrible profile.

2. 1. I have a neutral relationship with writing because I do like writing but I occasionally struggle with it as well; this is mainly because I’m not always too confident about writing but when it's something I’m confident about or have a lot of knowledge in then it comes easily. Most of the things I have written were for school such as summary of books, essays for books, articles, videos etc., autobiographies, poems, and rhetorical analysis. I didn’t really use any tools instead I was taught to use Google to its fullest by using things such as “site:edu” to only get educational website (which can be done with any domain like .com, .org etc.) or using quotation marks around words or phrases to get websites pertaining to those exact subjects.

1. Currently, I have an extremely positive relationship with reading. During quarantine, after I had finished watching pretty much everything on Netflix, I turned to books for entertainment. I read quite a few romance novels. As of now, my favorite author is Colleen Hoover. Her books It Ends With Us and Ugly Love are my favorites and I don't think I will ever get sick of rereading them. Although, I have only read romance novels during my free time, I do want to start exploring more genres. Throughout high school, I often read Shakespeare's classics such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Julius Caesar for class. Although these books would probably not be my first choice when it comes to reading for fun, I do remember really enjoying reading these classics for school. To read, I usually use my iPad and just download whatever I want to read onto there. I do find it fun to read from an actual hardcover book, however I feel having all my books on my iPad is a lot more convenient.

2. I have not always had the best relationship with writing, I tend to find it difficult to produce well-written work. However during quarantine, I started to journal. I found that journaling and writing all my thoughts down really helped me mentally. I would write in my journal everyday about what was going on in my life at that moment. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with this habit and it has now been a few months since I last wrote in my journal. I do however want to restart journaling.

1. My current relationship with reading is in between positive and negative, although leaning towards positive. I have a positive association in that when I find a piece of reading that is engaging, I find it hard to stop reading. That being said, when I have a need to read something (not for leisure), for example a book for a class, if it is not engaging I will likely not enjoy it and will have a lack of motivation to continue. When I read books I tend to read fiction, including books of mystery, action, and adventure. Aside from books I also enjoy reading biographies about people that interest me, STEM related articles about new discoveries, and occasionally comic books. Although I do not usually annotate or mark up my leisure readings, I use a dictionary to find any definitions of any unknown words, and if needed, a thesaurus for synonyms of words.

2. My relationship with writing is positive, as I tend to enjoy writing. I don't usually do many types of creative writings, although I enjoy writing essays for classes because it forces me to formulate, analyze, process, and communicate my own original thoughts. I like that these are things you can get from any piece of writing, even a long reflective text message, for example. When writing I tend to use corrective tools that can catch some of my mistakes when writing. Aside from this, I use websites if I need a word to describe something, need to reference something, or need inspiration/brainstorming ideas.

My relationship with reading right now It's more like the company of friends, because I always read books when I feel tired or need to relax. Also, I will read some inspirational books when I'm sad to help me cheer up. Reading could help me become more positive. So I think my relationship with reading it's like a positive association. Most of the books I read are novels, and they usually are thrillers or reasoning themes. I really like Stephen King's novels, especially the Pet Sematary. I'm very interested in that, and I also like magazines about history. And I read the newspaper with my grandpa sometimes. I spend a small part of my time reading with an iPad, and most of the time I buy books in physical bookstores. Because for me, I need a physical book very much, so that I can think more deeply, read more attentively and understand more thoroughly. My relationship with writing is an inseparable need of life every day. Like in school, I need to write some reflections, articles, assignments or peer reviews periodically. But I usually don't write in my spare time, but I occasionally write diary to record some interesting things or mood changes. Usually when I write an essay, I use Macbook and Google drive. And when I write a diary, I use a notebook and pen to write, because I think handwriting is a better way to write a diary, and typing will make me lose the desire to record things.

1. I enjoy reading a great deal, especially out of class. I’ve started reading books because of a school requirement in fourth grade. Although I dreaded that extra work at that time, it grew on me. I started to read books for entertainment like “The Land of Stories” and “Harry Potter”. All I read for a couple of years were fantasy books, I still enjoy them, but I turned to other genres like classics and nonfiction. Even after finishing a book, I often read analyzations of the book, which helps me understand the book better and retain some ideas. That could be the result of what we used to do in school. I did not often enjoy the short stories we read and analyzed in school, but they definitely made me a better reader. I also like to read articles in certain areas like nutrition and the environment.

2. Unlike reading, I don’t have a good relationship with writing. I hardly have any piece of writing that I’m proud of. I have a hard time expressing myself and that negatively impacts my writing skills. I like to journal. Reflecting on situations and feelings is something I truly enjoy, I like the fact that no one has to judge them. I journal mostly on my phone because it’s more convenient, and sometimes in a notebook. When it comes to other areas, I have to force ideas out instead of them coming out naturally. Reading back on pieces I wrote a few years back, there is an improvement mostly due to reading out of school. I wish to come out of this class with a greater improvement and a better relationship with writing.

My relationship with reading is relatively positive due to my AP english classes that made reading really interesting. And due to the pandemic, I could read books at my own pace and take my time understanding the content I was reading since we did not spend time reading in class. During my senior year of high school I read many different kinds of literature. Some of the books were required for the class but we were free to choose our own books and read them. I read quite a few different genres of books. Some of the books I thought were quite interesting were Frankenstein, Othello, and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I also read some Greek plays during high school that I really enjoyed. I’m not sure what the question means by tools but I usually like reading a physical copy of the book and if that is not available to me then I would read an online pdf version of the book.

My relationship with writing is neutral because I do not believe that I am particularly outstanding in writing but I do not believe that I am the worst in writing either. I usually only write essays for my AP english classes or just assignments that I needed to do during high school. I prefer typing out my essays or any writing assignments that I am required to do since I take a much longer time writing than I do typing, so the kinds of tools I usually use are pencil and paper or a laptop.

1) Currently, I don't have a very good relationship with reading. Whenever someone tells me about a book they've read or asks me for a book recommendation, I feel kind of disappointed in myself. I admire those who are very into reading, and I truly wish that my relationship with reading was better. I would love to sit down and relax with a good book. I simply cannot get myself to pick up a book, though. School has made me despise reading with a passion. I was always forced to read things that I didn't want to read, and now I associate reading with the force that was pushed upon me in school. When I do (occasionally) pick up a book, I'll usually go for a an action book or a rom com type of thing. To find books, I'll usually ask my friends that like to read what books they recommend.
2) I have a pretty positive relationship with writing right now. I typically enjoy writing if I'm writing about something that I'm passionate about. Whenever I'm in a specific mood, whether it's anger, joy, or frustration, I'll write my thoughts. This helps me gather my thoughts, and remember them if I want to tell someone what I was experiencing. I believe that it is a really good and healthy way for me to understand my feelings, and I enjoy writing those things down. I also enjoy writing in school, as long as it's something that interests me. I can sit down and write much easier than sit down and read. To find inspiration on what to write about, I typically look at other people's writing that I find on the internet to see if any topic inspires me or makes me think of something that I want to write about.

1. Reading for me is one of those things that I have a neutral association in general and in order for me to swing to either the positive or negative side would require more specificity. For example, some genres of books I enjoy reading and some I don't. For example, I would probably enjoy a novel but not enjoy reading through an entire textbook of any kind. Bookwise though, most of my reading recently has been chess books, which I find entertaining (surprisingly). I also like to read things that are not physically on paper, like news or articles on the phone. I especially like to read my text messages.
2. I don't usually mind writing in general, but one particular thing about writing that stressed me out which was unfortunately very common in recent years is having to write long essays with with a deadline, and even worse, timed essays. Everything else is fine by me. Therefore, I would once again say that my association with writing depends on the specifics. If it's mandatory writing with a fast approaching deadline, I will 97/100 times despise it, otherwise I would say that I have a neutral or even positive association with writing. I don't spend spare time writing short stories or keep a journal or anything fancy like that, so I just write to take notes and write down my schedule and stuff like that.

I enjoy reading current news and scientific articles regarding my major, which environmental engineering, however, I'd much rather listen to podcasts.

Growing up, I very much enjoyed reading non-fictional books such as 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' or 'The Kite Runner.' These books fueled my inspiration to reading more non-fictional books. As I grew older, reading felt more like a chore, rather than a leisure activity.

As time passed by, I decided to take the International Baccalaureate, and they meant that lots of reading was required and very much mandated.

1. My current relationship with reading is mostly negative, only because during my high school years, I was constantly given a large number of pages to read and annotate in a short amount of time. It became so dreadful to me that I would oftentimes fall asleep while reading page after page that often times barely related to my class. Although for me personally, it was challenging, I used resources such as audiobooks to help me stay focused and read along. I think that it was one of the most helpful tools I have used throughout high school. There are few things I enjoy reading, I am not typically the type to read for fun, regardless of how much I've tried, I have learned that it isn't my "thing". But the things I have enjoyed reading are daily positive messages I receive from an app on my phone

2. My current relationship with writing is better than it is with reading. Lately, I have been into writing in my phone's "note" app, at times where I feel the need to write down what I am thinking or how I am feeling. I also write down reminders on my whiteboard next to my bed so I do not forget important events, tests, or anything of that nature. I think I enjoy it more because it requires more outputting information than retaining which I feel comes more naturally. I anticipate having these attitudes positively changed as school progresses because the courses I am enrolled in are more to my liking than the high school classes I took.

I enjoy to read articles, news and short stories but I can never find myself reading an actual book because I get distracted very easily. Some tools that I like to use include news sources or online articles. I do actually have a past with a few books such as the Hobbit which is one of my favorite books. The last book I attempted to read was The Simarillion. Fantasy and fiction are my favorite types of literature.

2. As for writing, I love to write. Writing is so therapeutic to me. I love to write poetry based off what I feel or how my day went. Sometimes I even write poems based off my dreams. I typically jot notes down elsewhere about my dreams but turning them into poetry I found to be so much better and much more engaging. I use google docs and my notes app. I also use my mini notebook when I actually feel like lifting my pen. I am not as confident in my ability to write papers or essays yet but I am excited to improve in those fields. I sometimes do actually enjoy writing essays when I actually understand the subject.

My relationship with reading is extremely mixed. Generally, I tend to prefer visual content, rather than textual content. When it does actually come to reading though, it is extremely hard for me to pay attention and comprehend something that I'm reading which I'm not enjoying. However, if the thing that I'm reading aligns with one of my interests or hobbies, you probably won't see me dropping the book anytime soon. What kind of things do I read? Well, my brain is more stem-oriented, so I like to read a lot of technical stuff, like car magazines, computer magazines, instructions to fix things, etc... Even though I'm not a big fan of reading materials, I do enjoy collecting physical books, at least physical books of interest. Books like history textbooks, language guides, Comics, etc... All things that I have general interests in.

I'd say I have a pretty strong relationship with writing. Even though most of the writing that I have done for submission purposes followed a strict set of rules, I would always think about how I could improve my writing by bending the rules, without actually submitting it. Before middle school, I used to always struggle with writing. However, it just so happened that my 8th grade teacher was a college professor that wanted to try teaching a middle school class. Oh man, this was one of my favorite teachers, as he completely expanded my writing limits, showing me college-level writing about 5 years early. After graduating from his class, all the papers that I would write in the future, I now viewed differently. Also, having a cousin who went to college, specialing in creative writing, mentor me doesn't hurt. What tools do I use to write? I literally cannot survive without my grammar checker. If I don't have that tool, I'm not submitting any papers. :D
