e.g. Challenge - Food. International students might find the food in public school canteens not to their liking. While there is often at least one of every cuisine in the canteen, specific cuisines like Japanese and Korean are often unavailable. Therefore, international students might struggle to integrate into public school life.

e.g. The boy was crying on the bus because he missed his family at a young age. OR The boy would be tired because he had to wake up extremely early to cross the Causeway and start school in Singapore.

e.g The author doesn't spend as much time as he would like to with his family because when he was younger, he always had to leave the house really early and would come home really late. Even when he grew older, he moved in with his aunty and when he was working, he seldom got the chance to go back to Malaysia due to his work. As such, the author felt guilty about not spending enough time with his family.

e.g. They can get very close to the teacher. An international student studying in Singapore might thus struggle in terms of relating to the teacher as the student might not enjoy such a close relationship with the teacher in Singapore. Additionally, the international student may unintentionally cross certain boundaries between teacher and student because the student may have a different understanding of what is appropriate.

e.g. International students believe Singapore is safer than Australia and their home countries.

e.g. The international students may not be so well-to-do, because lower cost of living is a consideration. 

e.g. International students have gained opportunities to develop and grow their passions. For example, Le Minh Giang found his passion in dance and used the DSA scheme to apply to Victoria Junior College. Additionally, he is also very involved in the dance scene in Singapore.

e.g. International students may feel out of place in public schools Singapore. For example, Vedant was very conscious that he was the only Indian in his JC class, and he had to make effort to learn about Singaporean culture. He also felt pressure because he was representing India.
