From Source B, one challenge stated is money. International students of various backgrounds come from different cities, some of which may not have been from a city that has the same economical standards as Singapore. With this, the less privileged international students suffering from the cost of high prices in Singapore would face a lot of challenges, such as rental, food, groceries etcetera, making them really vulnerable when it comes to the financial difficulties.

From Source B, one benefit stated is the diverse multi-racial community. International students would definitely feel much more included in Singapore's society as it involves a community of different races and ethnicities. As such, the international students might be able to come across their own kind of people and even better, to be friends with different people of various races and ethnicities. This can help them learn more about their cultures, religions and backgrounds so as to get to know more of each other. Overall, this can strengthen to form harmonious bonds of the diverse multi-racial community and to also avoid/prevent racism amongst the students.

I can infer from Source B that one of the challenges international students face when integrating into public schools is the language barrier between the locals and the international students. From the video, Jiajun Wang, an international student from China, said that, “English is not my mother tongue, so, it’s made it hard communicating with others, especially the locals here at first.” This suggests that international students have trouble interacting with other students and may not make friends easily due to the fact that they do not understand what each other are saying.

I can infer from Source B that one of the benefits international students gain when integrating into public schools is their character change. From the video, Kodai Kudo, a Japanese international student, stated, “I think most Japanese are shy, but I try to change my personality, to not shy.” This therefore suggests that with the change of environment, international students have to adapt to the new school and the people around them, hence they tend to be more outgoing than their usual introverted selves in order to make friends that can help them familiarize themselves with the school, and seek the academic help that they may need from teachers or other students.

1.they think of the safety and security in the country, as well as Singapore being closed to their home country and familiarity with the culture. Singapore is known as one of the safest and cleanest places in the world, there is no threat of natural disasters, no political unrest and little crime due to the measures taken by the government. This suggest international students think that singapore is safer than Australia. Secondly, Many immigrants come from nearby countries in south east Asia. Singapore’s location ensures close proximity to other countries, so foreign students can travel to and from Singapore with relatively low travel cost, compared to travelling to Australia. This suggest when students think that Singapore is cheaper to travel to than Australia . Lastly being familiar with the culture, means that students want to go somewhere where they can understand and adapt to easily. As they may struggle to fit in society if the culture is too unfamiliar to them, this suggest international students view Singapore’s culture to be more relatable to them than Australias culture.

2. I can infer that foreigners may struggle deal with the cost of living in Singapore as the chart shows lower of cost of living isn’t why most students travel to Singapore to student, suggesting that cost of living in Singapore may be expensive to most international students. I can also infer that international students can have make friends and from a social circle in Singapore as a percentage of them have friends and relatives in Singapore and the culture in Singapore is similar to theirs.

-Julian

https://youtu.be/Vydhm3-TqYY

In the comic the author states ‘ i wake up at 4:30 am and im usually home after 8:00 pm’ this shows that travelling between singapore and Malaysia takes a long time and he has to wake up early and sleep late.
Another challenge that the author faced was that he had difficulty finding a comfortable home to live

In Singapore after he decided to move to singapore for poly. In the comic the author rented a room in the back of a spectacle shop illegally. This shows that the author was facing difficulties with finance and not being a Singapore citizen.

2. The boy does not get to spend a lot of time with his family as he has to focus on studies and finance in Singapore and when he goes home he is probably busy with work so he does not get to interact or spend time with his family even when he is at home. There may also be times when he is too busy with work that he is not able to go home and visit his family.

3. The main benefit was that the author had more financial agency in singapore than if he had built his life back in Malaysia instead . If he has built his life in Malaysia instead, he might not have been as financially well off as there are more educational opportunities in singapore than in Malaysia. In singapore he got a scholarship for a master’s degree, which benefited him for future job opportunities.

https://youtu.be/mA8ZZ8wviAA

I: from source D, i can infer that international students faced many challenges adapting with integrating with new school.

E: they face challenges as they endeavour to study abroad from government policies to the country’s attitudes. international students may experience culture shock, language barriers, racism, financial stress, and other social challenges. this will make it tough for them to communicate with one another and it will be hard for them to ask for help when needed. From the data research, it shows that international students often face racism, discrimination and relationship difficulties between faculty and other students.

E: this tells me that international students faced many challenges when adapting to the new environment. it is really hard for them to adapt and when people talks about them, it may affect their mental and physical well being.

He “didn’t know how to react” when he got Cs in his first few tests.”this therefore suggest that they are really stress out by studies.they need to get straight A or else this will lower their chance of getting the scholarship.so he feel really stress when he got c.

The LSP class that Chao rui is attending helps her learn english easier. I also can infer that they have low confidence since they know not much English. As the student, Idris, gets more fluent in english, his confidence grew.I also can infer that they have no knowledge about the culture in singapore.

As many international students come from many different countries they can know a lot of their friends culture.

Since Singapore provides better education, international students cross borders to get good education. Although this is benefitting them, they face challenges such as travelling without an adult at a young age.
