Who: The series is designed to help bring newcomers to the farmers market. Please see the attached brochure. 
 
When: They are looking for mentors to join the group for a session on Monday March 21 at Oakdene to discuss their learning and offer some support/encouragement as they work on various elements of the course details (see descriptions below).

WHO: VCLA has a group of students who are preparing for a career in the care industry (senior or disability). And Mentoring Plus is gathering a group of mentors who would be interested in joining learners to discuss intergenerational knowledge. VCLA would like mentors to speak to the group about crossing the generation gap, etiquette, etc.
 
WHY: Because intergenerational knowledge exchange builds mutual respect, relationships, resilience, and reflective practice. YOUR perspective is invaluable and your participation is inspiring! 
 
WHEN: (please save the date; times TBD)
April 22 intergenerational open house and
 May 20Th care sector practice interviews.
 
HOW: There will be a handful of mentors participating. We will work with each new mentor to get them onboarded with Mentoring Plus. Then, we will keep everyone in the loop as a group and will offer some group check-in’s with the volunteers to prepare for the events prior to meeting the students. 
WHAT: 
 April: Mentors doing a 2-3 hour session on intergenerational knowledge who would talk with the crew about:
  • breaking down generational stereotypes
  • fostering relationships and relatability cross generations 
  • differences in etiquette, definitions of life success, traditions, families through the generations
  • sharing life experiences and stories
  • ways to encourage mentoring and exchange of knowledge
  • ways to increase engagement in both directions
May: VCLA set up a simplified job fair and has opportunities for people to share and do q&a with individuals/ small groups of people that held these related positions to practice informational interviews.
