Source D is useful in telling us that social mobility is possible. This can be supported by source E. I can infer from source D that through the Singapore’s education system, one who comes from a low-income family is able to move up the social mobility ladder. This is because, the source states “Mr tan credits his success story to the ‘solid foundation’ provided by Singapore’s education system. ‘i was one of the beneficiaries of the system, which lifted me from poverty to where i am today,’ he said” This suggests that through the help and support from Singapore’s government, Mr tan was able to climb up the social mobility ladder and improve his standard of living. Similarly, in source E, i can infer that Singapore’s government has actively provided support and help to those in the lower social mobility ladder, providing them with education to ensure that they can continue to move up the ladder. I can infer from source D that social mobility is possible. This shows that as with the assistance given, students from poorer background are able to be boosted into a better posture at studying with the financial assistance such as paying for books or tuition. This means that students can seek out better grades by using these help to improve their grades. This in turn is useful as students are able to move up from their current socio-economic status.
