- How were Vietnam war veterans able to process both the mental and physical losses in the battlefield?
- Were there any soldiers who joined the war with the knowledge of what they were doing? Or were they mostly volunteers

Expectations
- I would be able to read and see more of a first person perspective on what it was like surviving in a war. In this book, I expect that the author/characters would be able to touch on some of the psychological aspects of being in a battlefield. 

What do you want to get out of this book
- From this book, I want to learn more about the struggles that war veterans faced, especially in events concerning both during and after the war. Expectation-
I expect to see the characters having subverted expectations about the war.
I expect maybe a friendship between a US soldier and a Vietnam citizen.
I expect lots of suffering.

What do you want to get out of this book?
I would like to learn more about the internal conflicts within the individual sides, not just about the larger conflict of US vs Vietnam. I would also like to see how the characters respond to regrets or traumatizing events happening.
