Initial Questions
- How were Vietnam war veterans able to process both the mental and physical losses in the battlefield?
- Were there any soldiers who joined the war with the knowledge of what they were doing? Or were they mostly volunteers

Expectations
- I would be able to read and see more of a first person perspective on what it was like surviving in a war. In this book, I expect that the author/characters would be able to touch on some of the psychological aspects of being in a battlefield.

What do you want to get out of this book
- From this book, I want to learn more about the struggles that war veterans faced, especially in events concerning both during and after the war. As some people were afraid of veterans back then, it would be interesting to see how other people perceived the violence of war.

1. My initial question is, why is the book semi-autobiographical when the author can just write about all of the events that actually happened?
2. My expectation is that we will be able to look at the Vietnam War from different perspectives, including from the South Vietnamese, North Vietnamese, and the Americans.
3. I would like to gain more insights about the Vietnam War and discover the reasons on why the war happened after reading the book. I would also like to know how the veterans cope with the difficulties and challenges faced during the war and after the war, in terms of mental and physical.
