SUMMARY OF THE VIDEO
In the video Oprah Winfrey explained that in order to truly grow there must be constant self evaluation. This helps to ensure improvement in ones end goal. It should also be important to find one's true purpose so that growth can take place. Once we no longer have innovation we have to look inward so that we can make better progress.
APPLICATION IN MY LIFE
From what I watched in the video I will make sure that I continue to evaluate all my skills to improve whenever I can because that will help me in the end. I will also try to constantly prepare myself because I will never know the day when my skills will be needed. I think it is also very important to remember that in order to have a growth mindset I must be willing to grab every opportunity to show what I can offer.
REFERENCE
Oprah Winfrey's Mindset for success.

Summary: In this video, Coach Phil Jackson tells the story of how he instructed the Los Angeles Lakers in learning mindfulness, in order to build upon their mental strength and cooperation. This aided them in their wellbeing, kept them energized and motivated, and helped develop their stamina and tolerance. Their success as a team can easily be attributed to these teachings.
Application to my life: Mindfulness is quite helpful to me, as I was taught the practice to aid me when in distress. By paying attention to myself, my surroundings, and how these things influence my feelings, actions, and behaviors, I feel more grounded in the present moment. This video was a good reminder that I can also use mindfulness when I exercise and take care of my body; I should start applying it in those scenarios and see how it goes.

                  References

OWN.

Summary: In this video, Kobe Bryant tells us how he became the amazing basketball player he was. In this motivational video he speaks of how he had to change his mindset in training and in life to become like the players he drew inspiration from, like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, Jerry West, Oscar Robinson, and Bill Russell. After he spoke to them he realized that he has to understand how the game works, every in and out of it. How to train not just your body but your mind as well.

His mental approach to training did a complete 180, he was determined to leave nothing left of himself on the court. He made sure that he never felt that he could have done more. He speaks of having to deal with people thinking that he has changed and become a completely different person, which he has had to do to get to where he wants to be.

Approach to my life: Mindfulness has been a huge part of my life, and Kobe Bryant has been a big inspiration of mind especially in the athletic field. When I first go into fitness I only had the mindset of losing weight and not necessarily getting stronger. Now that I have gotten into powerlifting training my mind is vital, without that I can seriously injure myself. I have to realize that I can push myself more even when my body feels as though I can't, so watching that video it just supports my mindset of "Mind over Matter" even more.

References
Kobe Bryant Winners Dont't Make Excuses. Youtube.

To sum up this video, Bill Hader talks about how he learned to deal with anxiety. He has had to deal with anxiety all his life, like a lot of people do. It got worse when he got a job as an actor on SNL yet he only recently figured out a way to deal with his anxiety which he wishes he had known when he was younger. The way he deals with his anxiety is by thinking of his anxiety as a little monster on his shoulder and whenever he feels anxious/nervous, he befriends the monster.

After watching this video, I felt inspired to try this the next time I felt anxious. I will be using this technique to help me deal with my anxiety inside and outside of class. This video has also inspired me to try and find my own solutions to problems instead of pushing them away in order to grow as a person. These problems could include a lack of motivation, or even feeling sad.

Reference

Child Mind Institute.

Managing impulsivity is a necessary skill for success because when you’re impulsive, you may make mistakes. After all, thinking before acting makes you more self-disciplined and therefore more capable of accomplishing tasks and creating goals/plans (Eden).

Applying past knowledge to new situations is paramount to success, because without applying what experience we already have to an issue, we are more likely to struggle solving it. Our prior faults teach us how to better navigate problems that may trouble us in the future, without repeating the mistakes we originally made (Annabelle).

Persistence is important for learning outside of the classroom because it is important to constantly practice. Practice ultimately makes perfect. Once students put their mind to a particular task and see it through they are bound to come out successful. Finally, the more one tries to improve on a skill the better they will get at it (Mololuwa).

Having a understanding of how to listen with understanding and empathy is a necessary skill for success. When you go through life just waiting to state your point of view on a matter without a level of understanding and empathy on the matter, it will only hinder your success and relationships with other people (Danielle).

Costa, A.
