I got diagnosed with Endo after a year and a half of suffering 🥹

My period cramps had always been bad. Day 1 and Day 2 would always leave me reaching out for painkillers and I would be in bed for most of the day. It was also common for me to get multiple bowel movements during the first 2 days of my period. But a year ago, I noticed I started getting excruciating back pain. It was really painful, even lying down did not help. The pain sometimes stretched out to my left feet. I also started getting pain on my left abdomen and this was beyond my period. I thought it was because of my diet, so i started increasing fiber intake. It helped a little but I still had left abdominal pain here and there and lots of bloating. Was so unsatisfied so I went to a hospital for some help for my bowels and was told I just had ibs. Fast forward 6 months later, nothing seemed to change and worst, i started getting bigger blood clots during my period. That was my last straw :,) Finally got the courage to bring myself to a gynaecologist and poof… 2 huge cysts on my ovaries. It felt so validating and asssuring despite the scary looking scan. It’s been 6 months since the visit and i’ve been taking visanne. The pill has stopped my periods and my cysts have decreased in size. I have lesser bloating, and I dont have any left abdominal pain anymore :) Life has not been the same and I am happy I reached out and took a step for myself. To be honest, it took me so long because I was scared my concerns and worries were not “enough”. Ultimately, I basically gaslighted myself into thinking pain was normal. Please please go get check if you think something isn’t right!!! I promise you that whatever it is, you’ll be glad you went to check :-)

Thank you for reading ❤️

Medications such as Visanne should be covered under the chronic illness subsidiary. Endo patients like us rely on Visanne to manage the endo symptoms. One box of Visanne, which lasts 28 days, costs around $90-$80, which patients from lower incomes may not afford.
