According to the article, it proposes that states where the minimum age to buy a firearm is 18 have a higher gun violence rate than states that have adopted a minimum age of 21. "Data show that 18- to 20-year-olds commit gun homicides at triple the rate of adults 21 and older." This is why states around the country need to change gun laws and make them stricter because many young adults just aren't ready to own something so lethal.

A school in Apalachee, Georgia used a safety measure where in the case of a shooting teachers were assigned with a badge where if pressed enough times, the proper authorities would be informed about the situation. A shooting ended up happening on September 4, 2024 and multiple experts and officials expressed "the school's system worked as intended, and prevented the tragedy from being even worse." Safety measures such as these can be the difference between life and death for many of these schools.
