Question 1 Planned Response: What are the benefits of teaching young children about saving the environment?

https://www.voicesofyouth.org/blog/7-ways-which-youth-can-protect-environment

Answer: Firstly, I feel that young children are impressionable and would be exposed to ways to save the environment during their early stages of life. Thus, the first benefit of teaching young children about saving the environment is that they could start cultivating this good habit from a young age. Moreover, when the become adolescents, they would have a better understanding about the detrimental effects of examples like global warming and other negative environmental effects. Hence, they would be able to play their parts to save the environment as well as educate others like their peers and family members.

Furthermore, I think that the other merit of teaching youth children about conserving the environment is that the gesture/thought of saving the environment would be become part of their routine and habit in their daily lives. For instance, young children could take small steps to save the environment by not using plastic bags and plastic straws and replace them with recycled bags and paper straws.

Question 2:
Do you think that youths these days care about the environment? Why do you think so?

Yes, I personally learnt that a friend of mine and her family members do volunteer work on a regular basis at parks by picking up litter and disposing them in bins. This is an excellent example of teenagers who take ownership of saving the environment.

On a personal note, many youths have been inspired by MrBeast , a famous youtuber who started a campaign where every dollar you donate equals to a tree planted , I have seen many youths donating their money to plan more trees , I guess this is a good way of caring for the environment . All in all , I do think that some youths care about the environment these days. (Aik Hian)

1.Young children would be exposed on ways to save the environment at a young age, cultivating this good habit from young. Hence, when they grow up, they would have a better understanding about the detrimental effects of global warming and other negative effects, and hence be able to take action sooner as well as educate others. besides that, they would be able to learn ways on how to save the environment, and the actions they do from a young age can become a habit and when they grow older, it would be a routine doing it. some ways on how we can save the environment from young is to use less paper products such as doing our homework online instead of on paper, or when we use the toilet we should use water instead of toilet paper. these habits are easy to cultivate from young, hence would be beneficial if we start from young.
2.no, i do not think so. youths these days are selfish, and only care about themselves. despite many efforts and campaigns being put up for youths to take action, no one is willing to take up the challenge of helping to save the environment. such examples are school talks, where speakers are invited to come to the school to encourage and motivate students on ways to save the environment. however, many students tend to turn a blind eye to it and just do not care. another example would be Aisha Ahmad, a Secondary 2 student, who feels that Singaporean youths are generally quite cynical as they feel whatever they do will not make a difference. His friends tend to not bother recycling and see it as a waste due to the amount being used is more than the amount being collected. i feel youths should be more environmentally responsible and think about our future as well as the next generation. if constant effort is being displayed, i'm sure the earth is still worth saving for.

q1. Benefits of teaching young children includes inculcating good habits to the children. This allows them to know the environment more and know that it is good to have clean environments and know how to clean them up if the environment is dirty. This would also allow them to become a better person in the future , passing on good habits to the future generations. They can also educate their friends when necessary , spreading the words about saving the environment.

q2. I do think that youths these days care about environment. Many of them are aware whenever the environment is dirty. For example in school , they would ask the person to clean their own mess if they did so. This shows that they care about environment. Also they would put up nice posters about cleaning up the dirty parts of a place if needed. Many youths also uses their platform to spread awareness on having a clean environment is important as it can lead to many benefits.

Question 1 Planned Response: What are the benefits of teaching young children about saving the environment?

Young children are easily influenced by what they see hear touch taste . So if we were to teach young children the importance of recycling . They can absorb the information faster and remember for life. Teaching young children are like teaching future heroes who will actually care about the environment and the earth . This will make people influence each other to take care of the environment and sooner of later it would make the world a better place to live in and everybody would be happy . Hence , benefits of teaching young children are they can easily absorb information and they can spread the message about the importance of saving the environment. Some examples are during my primary school days , the school had like this area specifically use for teaching the importance of recycling and reuse and reduce basically making the environment cleaner and a better place to live in . Until now I still remember what they thought for example how we can recycle what to do when we see liter on the floor even thought it might not be our trash we still have to pick it up as we are responsible for being on earth and taking good care of it . This shows that how children like me in primary school are easily influence and how fast they can absorb the information. All in all , the benefits of teaching young children is that they can absorb information faster and be influence in a good way faster .

Question 2:
Do you think that youths these days care about the environment?

I feel that teaching young children about saving the environment can help children be well educated about the issues happening around the world and make a difference. Even though they are young and most of the vital decisions are made by the government and adults, youths have the freedom to make a difference, so that the world can be a better place. I think small things like reusing things such as plastic bottles as plant holders, can make a difference. If everyone does their best to make the world a better place, we will be able to see its benefits. I learnt that some things that we do in our daily lives can affect the environment negatively and that we should watch our actions and consider whether it benefits the environment.
2. I think that youths these days do not really care about the environment. In a world now where the most important things in life is social media, studies or even friendships, people tend to ignore the fact that our environment is an important factor to care about as well. Nowadays, we even see students throwing rubbish on the floor due to the fact they are too lazy to walk to the dustbin and this can affect its cleanliness. Despite seeing some people who genuinely care about the environment, many ignore their efforts and only care about themselves. Hence, I think that most youths these days do not really care about the environment.

1. I think teaching young children about saving the environment at a young age is beneficial as they are still learning and are impressionable and curious about saving the environment. This way, as they are being educated and exposed to the situation, they can adapt to the situation for example cultivating the habit of recycling and saving electricity.
Secondly, once the young children have become adolescents or even adults, they can teach others and influence them to do what is right and what is wrong.

2. The answer really depends on how the youths feel. If youths care about the dire situation Earth is in, they would at least know what actions to take and good habits of saving the environment. On the other hand, some youths may not care about what is going on or know little to nothing about the environment. Youths who are aware of the environmental conditions may likely come from social media like TikTok, Instagram and Youtube. For example, some youths may create hashtags to spread awareness about the environment or even start a campaign to help out. Additionally, in school where students can decorate posters around the school to encourage their peers to do the same for the sake of the environmental conditions.
In conclusion, I feel that a lot of effort must be put into influencing youths to save the environment as Earth is where their homes are and must care for their home.

qn 1) teaching young children about saving the environment would let them know about the benefits about saving the environment. as the environment is slowly getting worse and worse as the days pass, young children should be taught since young to let them know about the benefits of saving the environment. this would allow them to prevent doing harmful effects that will negatively affect the environment and instead do positive things that would benefit the environment.
qn 2) no, i do not thing that the youths these days care about the environment. this is because youths these days are all exposed to the internet. this would cause them to not care about the environment and instead look at their phone, scrolling through social media. many youths would also like to follow their friends, thus when 1 friend uses their phone, all of the others would follow. youths also have the mindset that the adults will be the one that will save the environment and not them, causing them to use the internet instead of caring about the environment. thus i do not think that youths these days care about the environment.

Q1:
Young children are impressionable. By teaching them about saving the environment, they will be able to cultivate the habit and bring it with them to adulthood. Additionally, by educating them about saving the environment, they would be more aware about potential environmental hazards and the impact it could have on them. They would also be more appreciative of nature and do their best to live eco-friendly and sustainable lives so as to do their part for the environment. some steps they can take is to bring their own utensils for meals, ride bicycles, walk to school and recycle . such small actions can have a huge effect on the environment. Protecting the environment is the foundation for sustaining our planet as the environment supports our ecosystems, allowing them to grow and thrive. Failure to protect our environment can affect future generations for their lives would be at risk. Thus, educating young children about saving the environment is beneficial.

Q2. I think youths these days care about the environment. I have read an article about a survey done on Singaporean teenagers 12-18. In the article, it is said that 96 out of 100 feel that it is their role to do their part for the environment and 40 percent claim to use recyclable bags when going out with their parents. This shows that the youths care about the environment. However, there are some others who are selfish. My brother is an example, he would waste water by letting the tap run and would use papers without thinking about the environment. This makes me feel that although there are youths that do care.

Even if they did learn ways on how to save the environment, their impacts are small, not big that it would impact the environment.
Some residential areas are also located far from recycling bins
2.Some Youths these days may or may not care for the environemnt. Some youths may not be bothered as some may prefer playing games or watching their videos, than care about the environment. However some may care about the environment as in the future, they are the ones living in the world, and the environment is in their hands whether to save it or destroy the environment. Why i thinks this way is because there isn't constant awarness about the environment, thus people would tend to forget about it.

Lastly, i think that it is a good way to start teaching the young children about saving the environment, as they might develop a thought to save the environment, and let it become their habit. one example of a way that young children can do is to use less plastic bags.
q2. i think that youths these days still care about the environment. i personally care about keeping the environment clean, what i will do is after having my meals i will keep the trays and clean the table as well as using recycling bags instead of the plastic bags they provide. moreover, there are still youths out there spreading awareness on keeping the environment clean, also inspiring each other to keep the environment clean. hence, i felt that there are still youths who care about the environment

Teaching young ones today about the environmental impact of their daily life and the concept of sustainability helps keep them informed about potential future hazards such as poor air quality and polluted drinking water.
moreover , when they grow up into young adults , they would better understand the harmful effects of climate change like global warming .
2.Many young people care about the environment. They want to protect it, but don't always know about local opportunities for them to get involved and make a difference. Younger Americans have grown up with more exposure to the effects of global warming than their parents and grandparents. Perhaps it isn’t surprising then that polls find young adults are particularly concerned about global warming. A 2018 Gallup analysis found a "global warming age gap " in some beliefs, attitudes, and risk perceptions. For example, 70% of adults aged 18 to 34 say they worry about global warming compared to 56% of those aged 55 or older. Although young adults in the U.S. may be more concerned about the climate than older adults, it is unclear to what degree they are engaged with the issue. In fact, a study found out that younger generations exhibit less civic engagement on many issues, including the environment.

1) In my opinion, i think there are many different benefits when teaching young children about saving the environment. One of the most obvious benefit is to inspire kids to become more engaged with the environment. This will allow them to realise the importance of saving the environment and will cultivate good habits from young such as brain storming ways to save their environment since young. I personally think that things like teaching about the environment should be taught since young. Teach them about the detrimental effects of global warming and how our environment is deteriorating. Educate them on the different ways and actions they can do to help improve this problem. For example using less paper and having the habit of recycling things such as plastic bag . If they start young, they will grow up continuing this good habit and pass it down to the next generation. As such, this will be very beneficial to both the environment and kids.

q2) No, i do not think that youths these days care about the environment. I feel that youths these days are not familiar about how important it is to save the environment. Since they are unfamiliar with it, they do not care. They only care about things that are convenient for them. For example, when youths go shopping, they do not make the effort to bring their own bags but instead they will request for plastic bags. They are unwilling to take up challenge of helping to save the environment. I think some things schools can do to improve this problem is to invite people from NEA to give impactful talks about the environment, allowing youths to understand better about how important it is to save the environment. I think this will definitely help youths to start caring about the environment.

Hence, when they are exposed to more information about saving the environment, they can then start cultivating this good habit from a young age. Furthermore, when they grow up, they would gain a better understanding about the harmful impacts it can bring to the environment like climate change could bring to earth. Thus, they would be able to do their parts to save the environment. Another benefit could also be that they could teach and share this information that they are taught from young so that others could also gain awareness of the detrimental effects. Hence, more people could then play their part in saving the environment.

Q2. Do you think that youths these days care about the environment?

Q1) Some benefits of teaching youths the importance of saving the environment is that it will instill them to practice good habits at a young age. They will also have a better understanding of how their actions may affect the earth if they do not help to save the environment. Another reason is that youths will help to contribute to a better environment as it will reduce the chances of people littering. This helps to lower the chances of land and water pollution. It also lessens the burden on the cleaners who will have to clean the litter on the ground. Sometimes, we have the tendency to waste paper. That is why youths need to cultivate good practices when they are young so that it will become a habit.
Q2) No, I do not think so. Most youths tend to throw their rubbish on the ground even though there is a rubbish bin nearby. This could be due to their sedentary lifestyles. For example, most youths these days are very lazy. They usually stay in their rooms and seldom leave their houses. So due to their daily habits, they are too lazy to walk towards the rubbish bin to dispose of their litter. During our recess time in school, i saw many empty bottles of soft drinks on the canteen tables. This shows that students these days are too lazy to throw their rubbish away and expect the cleaners to clear their litter for them.

1) By teaching young children from young, I think that they will be able to better understand the importance of the environment and why saving the environment is important. As compared to those who receive little or no guidance about saving the environment, those who have will generally cultivate better habits from young as they know the better habits and what not to do. For example, children will know how to recycle plastic waste in reusable bins and being more environmentally by using their own reusable bags for grocery shopping instead of those provided by the supermarket itself.

2) No. I do not think so. As youths these days do not really know about the impacts on the environment and hence do not feel the need to play their part in any way. They are withdrawn from their surroundings and are concentrated on other activities like mobile games etc. Although activities such as campaigns and booths being held at nearby community centres, some youths just do not pay much attention to it. Schools will also arrange talks where speakers would come to present ways to hopefully encourage us to open our eyes to work towards the benefit of the environment. Despite all these efforts, sometimes there of course would still be youths who neglect the importance of keeping our environment clean and preserving nature. But to others, the environment means so much and they are sure that their efforts in keeping the environment clean is worth.
