Collaborate with student readers (alone or in pairs), who would provide us with a list of 12 books that they would like to highlight. The library team would make a poster for it. The students will be in charge and given responsibility of a display shelf for 2 weeks. In that time, they will have to top up the displays when it's empty. At the end of the 2 weeks, the students get to bring home the poster.

Language Books for Fiction and Textbooks

My proficiency in Chinese and having learnt Japanese and Korean before meant that I am more capable of helping us sort out our World Language section, and the textbooks that the Language department uses and cataloguing them correctly, and fixing mistakes when I see them. I worry sometimes because our WL section has unfortunately a low checkout rate and this is all for naught, but I am currently working on curating some books for Chinese for our TL to look through and purchase, and hopefully promote a higher checkout rate for our Chinese books and eventually the other WL books. My proficiency with language also helps as I am able to help maintain a higher rate of accuracy for our collection.

To have students take ownership and promote library culture.

The student librarians take charge to create events (Quizzes, prizes, Kahoot, hands-on activities), make announcements through PA system, create posters. Promote by word of mouth, so their friends know of the events being hosted.

The library assistant also teaches them to shelve, wrap books.

Collaboration with departments (Eg Chinese department - Mooncake making)
