My name is Manal Al-Bialy. I am the JK1 Homeroom Teacher & JK2 English Language Teacher. I graduated from the University of Tanta, Egypt with a major in English Language and literature and later I did my certification course in TESL. I am also working on my Early Childhood Education diploma. Teaching is my inner most passion and I simply love spending time with my students and sharing their adventures! Literacy Behaviors

Literacy behaviors are the various ways in which children use language, images and materials to communicate ideas and emotions. Language skills such as speaking, listening and concepts of print are explored in Kindergarten through responses to words and stories, games, music, and discussions. A focus on oral language development supports children’s learning in second languages. This builds the necessary emergent literacy skills required as they begin to read and write in English.

My name is Mohammad Emchi, and I will be the Qur’an teacher for JK and SK this year. It is a true privilege for me to be teaching your children at Abraar School, and I am dedicated to their growth and success.

For the past 12 years, I have been teaching the Qur’an in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UAE, and Canada, teaching students of different ages and backgrounds in their Qur’anic learning. It brings me great joy to continue this journey with the wonderful students of Abraar School.

Throughout the year, we will explore the beautiful teachings and stories of the Qur’an, helping your children build a strong foundation in recitation, pronunciation, and memorization. The goal is to nurture in them a lasting love for the Qur’an and a sincere connection with its meanings, Insha’Allah.

With the support and encouragement of both home and school, I believe we will witness wonderful growth in their Qur’anic understanding and spiritual development.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan for entrusting me with your child’s Qur’an education. I pray that Allah (SWT) blesses our efforts and makes this year a rewarding and enlightening experience for your children.

Science in Junior Kindergarten.

What can you expect your child to learn about science by the end of kindergarten?
In general, they will learn some basics of the physical sciences, Earth sciences, life sciences, and scientific principles of investigation and experimentation.

Children are encouraged to develop their curiosity about the world around them and to make observations. As they are introduced to science, children develop organized and analytical thinking as well as problem-solving skills.
Physical Sciences
Generally speaking, though, in studying the physical sciences in kindergarten, children learn about the properties of certain materials and discover that these properties can be observed, measured, and predicted. They will:

Describe the materials that make different objects (cloth, paper, wood, etc.)
Describe the physical properties of objects (color, shape, texture, etc.)
Learn the properties of water — it can be a liquid or solid and can change back and from one to the other, and it can evaporate when left in an open container
Recognize that light and heat are both sources of energy
Understand whether objects float, sink, are attracted to magnets, etc.

Earth Sciences

As they learn about the earth, children will learn about the characteristics of the earth's environments (mountains, rivers, oceans, valleys, and deserts) and the four seasons. They'll understand the weather, daytime vs. nighttime, the different phases of the moon, and resources and conservation.

Life Sciences

Basic structures of common plants and animals (arms, legs, wings, leaves, stems, roots, etc.)
Living things adapt to the environment, grow and change, and have certain needs
Living vs. non-living things
The similarities and differences in plants vs. animals
A wide variety of living things exists and that they are interdependent

Scientific Investigation and Experimentation

Children won’t be conducting any complex scientific experiments, but they will learn the basic scientific principles of observing, predicting, and measuring. It is through these activities that children will learn about the physical, earth, and life sciences. They will learn to:

Ask: Questions based on prior knowledge and observations
Compare: Common objects using one physical attribute, such as color, shape, size, etc., structures and behaviors of different animals
Describe: How objects move (or behave), the characteristics of common objects in terms of the five senses,
Observe: Seasonal changes, the size, shape, texture, and color of common objects such as tree leaves, illustrate observations through drawings
Predict: What happens when certain materials are subjected to tests (i.e. place a piece of wood in water to see what it does)
Recognize: Patterns and describe them, sort objects

The language of the Quran

In order to be able to understand and interpret the word of Allah through prayer and reading the Quran, learning Arabic language is essencial. In the JK2 class, we make sure to integrate the Arabic language into the children’s daily routines and learning experiences. All other subjects are delevired in Standard Arabic language, except of: French and English.

The Ontario’s Kindergarten Program is a play based program where kids get to learn while playing and discovering. In JK we provide a variety of educational centers that students use to learn the Arabic language while playing and having fun: flashcards, arabic stories, arabic puzzles, arabic games, etc.

My name is Fawzia Elnaggar. I am the JK2 homeroom teacher and the JK1 Arabic language teacher.
I have a Bachelor of Education, my career in education and childcare has taken me from Ottawa, Ontario, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I developed a wide skill set. As a Program Assistant at Ottawa's Sessile Academy, I worked on early childhood development. As an Arabic Teacher for Non-Native Speakers at Alhuda Arabic School, I was able to create a curriculum for young students. Volunteering as an Arabic Teacher at SNMC has helped me improve my teaching skills. I offered a secure and caring atmosphere for children as a Nursery Assistant at Happy Kids. I worked as a JK and SK Teacher at Macca Kindergarten in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, using novel teaching approaches and maintaining updated childcare techniques.
